Do U ever get Prince overload and how do U remedy it?

I've been listening to him every day since Musicology came out so this morning I put on Bowie for a refreshing change. Lovely stuff!

The only way to have a sustainable relationship with Prince (or with anyone for that matter) is moderation!

Or you can go out and find other short, freakish, androngenous musicians from Minneapolis....

If you can find them! pc

I definitely get Prince overload, but I bring it on myself. I listen to Prince nearly every single day. To cure it, I just take a break for a few days and listen to mostly reggae (Bob, Buju, Peter). I come back with fresh ears and I'm still filled with the same love and excitement all over again. It's kind of like quitting coffee for a week: after the withdrawal, that first cup gives you a buzz like nobody's business! razz

Yeah, I would have to agree that reggae is a nice change of pace - a lil Freddie McGreggor, Marley, Black Uhuru, or Burning Spear..... smoker Then, while in the mellow mood u could switch over to some Sade wink Once u do this for a few days, you can switch back to Prince for 3 months again guitar

I just listen to the radio for a couple of days. After that, I'm usually dying for some Prince again.

I've never had Prince overload. The only time I don't listen to Prince is when I desire to hear something else, not because I don't wanna hear Prince, but because I wanna hear that instead.

I play funk/soul from the late 70's early 80's (Gap Band, Cameo, Bar-Kays, Stephanie Mills etc..) for a few days....and then maybe listen to some World Class rock in the car...but then after a few days, I go back to prince full time!

Sometimes I'll go two days without listening to Prince. After that I'm dying to hear him again. That's the longest I ever have to go though, just two days at the most.

That usually works for me too! Or I just watch MTV or BET for a while, after a couple of days of that I'm usually on my knees thanking the heavens that I have Prince's music to turn to. cool

I definitely have to give Prince up for months at a time.
My other favorite band is the Beatles (too bad there's never any new music), and it's nice they're so different from Prince.
He has so much music, it would be easy to listen to nothing else, like Grateful Dead fans.
But it's just too limiting, it doesn't matter how great he is. I couldn't listen to nothing but Mozart, either. I would miss Bach. There's lots of great music out there.
Also I am a musician, so I wouldn't want to be too influenced by any one person or band.

Yes, I am about to enter my second case of overload/boredom. Last time was in 1995 or something. Didn't buy any of the albums for a few years, considered selling the collection eek
and then when TRC came out I bought all the cds I missed and had a Prince couple of years which are sadly coming to an end. Remedy? Time. I think of it like a rhythm over time that waxes and wanes. I'm like totally into him or fairly indifferent for a few years at a time. I don't really even listen to any music anyway, too much other stuff on.

I just throw in some Beatles and/or some of their solo stuff for a while and then come back to it fresh again.
