Spike was talking film at a recent talk and mentioned how he called different black celebrities to get them to give money for his film Malcolm X. He mentions that Prince gave him a six figure check. So, in that instance Prince did a good thing.

You did good P. And this was when he was still a slave.

Prince gives a lot to charity. I remember an interview with Carlos Santana a few years back where he says that Prince does a lot for charity, but doesn't like to make a big deal out of it. I think that's the right way. Some people give so that others can see how much they've given, but Prince and others don't like the recognition, they just give from their hearts.

He needs to do more than give though.

Just another reason for the mysterious disapperance of Prince in the mid-nineties.

Spike PISSED the powers that be off BIG TIME with the Malcolm X picture .The company that was backing Spike refused to give him money to go film on location in Mecca.Spike was stuck in Egypt with a film crew to pay and no money.Spike calls up major Black entertainers and movers and shakers to finance the film.Prince,MJ, Bill Cosby,Oprah and others came up with money to make the film.Pissed off a lot of people.

Spike says some obnoxious knee-jerk stuff here and there but I was very proud when he got this money. The budget for that film from the studio was a joke considering its epic scope ($20 million was not all that much even back in 1991.) Wouldn't surprise me if some are still annoyed about this, let em choke on it. Malcom X was a fine piece of work.

Why does Prince giving money surprise anyone? I know its only a song but what does he say in "Lady Cab Driver" "This is for the rich, not all of them, just the greedy. The one's that don't know how to GIVE!"

Excellent but long film. Loved it. Prince is a Good person,but doesn't need alot of Hoopla ALL the time.

Congratulations to Prince...It's nice to help out other people in need..Most artists give donations, but it's no use to be bragging about it...
