i seen some live video of prince peforming gotta stop messin' about,
and i thought that bass line and drum are very simular to some non prince song.
then i got it.
prince was clearly very inspired by the knack-my sharona.
drum beat and bass riffs are very simular.
also both songs are in g minor.
it's cool to know that prince was inspired with some artist outside from his usual stone hendrix,james brown influences.

to be fair to the guy i can hear it myself. i always felt the song was a b side cos it was similar to a song by someone else, but couldnt remember the song, and i think it has a similar rhythm to my sharona.

i dont think its a rip off per se or a copy or whatever, but it has similarities i reckon,.

Do you really think, personally i hate that song-my sharona. Its strange that anyone would suggest prince had bootlegged something, usually it's the other way round
