Candy Dulfer's father: "Cancy Dulfer just recorded a cd with Prince". In the Dutch magazine "Nieuwe Revu" of this week, there's a short interview with Candy Dulfer's father (also a Dutch saxophone player). A big deal is about Prince.
Here's the translation: --- Saxophonist Candy Dulfer will tour with Prince in America very soon. Before we come to speak with her, we get her father on the phone. "Yeah hi this is Hans. You mailed for Candy, but you can't reach her. She's in Japan. The time difference, you know." Too bad. Is Candy that popular in Japan, too? "Oh no, and me neither. There just live a lot of people, so if 1% buy your records, you've made it." I read she's going to tour with Prince soon. "Yes. Everybody is calling about it all day. But she does work with Prince more regularly. She just recorded a cd with him. I think it's some kind of jazz rock. By the way, I hate jazz." Howcome Prince is so crazy about your daughter? "They simply click. He canceled his tour already three times, because Candy wasn't available. He's that mad about her. And he's always very polite and he pays well. They both have an absolute pitch, you know what that is?" Something I don't have? "Well, I don't have it either, you know. You can live without. But Prince and Candy have it, and they also have an absolute memory, they remember everything. So they work together very well." Do you still see Prince occasionally? "I sometimes talk with him, when he calls." How 's he doing? "Very well. Lately, he's much into the Lord again. He gave Candy a little book about the faith. 'Give it to your father', he said. Give it to that bad father of yours. Ha ha." Did you read it? "No way. I don't do that. It's a principle. | |
