Watched Graffiti Bridge last night...

I haven't watched a prince video in years, so I thought I'd watch Purple Rain last night. Couldn't find the tape, so I put on Graffiti Bridge instead.

HOW bad is that film? What was the man thinking. I don't think i've seen it since 1992 and it hasn't aged well. The script is dire and the acting is worse. Most cringeworthy was the scene where Prince is teasing Ingrid Chavez with the apple. Just awful. Plus, the only two brilliant songs from the album (The Q of U and Joy in Repetition) were just background music. What was up with that.

NEVER MAKE ANOTHER FILM!

I watched Lovesexy 2 after, which made everything better. (Sorry, just thought i'd share)

Totally agree.....Love the man, but the movie was awful. The only movie that has ever given me a major headache! I'd have to be stoned to ever watch that again.

aaah, for gawd's sake, can't we just leave it alone?

i know there is some 'general' agreement that g. bridge is a bad bomb -- but i know there are some people out there who just love it...its The Bomb.

so all right, it's hard on the eyes, ears, and spirit sometime, but this movie has got so many isolated moments that you could just relish.

yeah yeah, tough narrative, tough acting, the worst dialogue -- but what about PIMP SANDWICH TONIGHT!

or, "BANG!" from the keyboard player/hairdresser
or, the performance of TICK TICK BANG (makes me spam out everytime)
or, when Morris and Jerome make out?
or, when Jill takes off those slamming red, uh, private clothes...whooeee!
or, when George signs those papers -- man, dude looks so stoned out of his mind
or, when the Kid puts Aura up against the wall -- THAT's MA BOY!
or, "THREEFINE!"

so come on, dog the movie as a whole, but you gots 2 admit -- it has got some priceless moments --
GO 4 IT KID! MAKE BILLY PROUD!

Hah, I love all those bits too, u mentioned bits that i thought knowone would find funny, the "Bang" bit and the "Pimp sandwich" r killer (4 different reasons too) and Jills underwear removel is cool too!

Also those fashions that Tc Ellis, Levi and Miko r wearing? Damn the look funny! Tc's Jesus picture shirt/jacket whatever is also a bit wierd too!

U noticed another plot hole! TC goes into George's club right, with Levi and Miko I think, then their all suddenly playing "Elephants and flowers" with Prince at Glam Slam's with TC as doorman! Whoops another deleted scene maybe? The running joke between TC and Prince is quite nicely done though.....u remember?

found that the best way to watch this movie is to put in the player and push "play" then immediately leave the room and shut the door. You then proceed to another room and watch Goodfellas. When Goodfellas is finnished you then go back to the other room and Graffiti Bridge should be finnished.

That is a very satisfying movie experience.

Well I think that he could make another film I just don't think that he should write and direct it which is what he did with GB. Yes this isn't a good movie but I kind of like it.
Why? well for starters it looks like nothing else even today. I love sets like back in the 60's when they would build sets that were suppossed to be outdoors but you could tell it was a soundstage. It just reminds me of theater I guess. Anyway this movie had plenty of really cool looking sets. I think that if he had done a tour with half those sets on stage people would have really vibed to that.
Also this album is very underated and I think the reason for that is he does not sing on every song. I mean when you look at the track record of this album it did alright. Mavis Staples had a hit Tevin Campbell had a hit and Prince had a hit plus the Question of U and Joy in Rep are awesome.
I of course am fully aware that despite these things it really is a horrible film, but for some reason I kind of like it and will be buying the DVD I just wish since WB is trying so hard to cash in on Prince that then release the dopest film he ever made SOTT my VHS copy is starting to look like shit.

Peace
THE CARDINAL HAS SPOKEN!!!
