When will people realize that Mary is one of the worst singers out there?!! People constantly make excuses for her... "She sing off key, but she's had a hard life." Some of the best singers come from angst and pain! She's one of the so-called artist who always rips off and samples other people' music, like "Sweet thing and "My life"! She relies on her background singers and catchy hooks to compensate for her poor vocals! And I'll have a hard time forgiving Sting for besmirching his cd!

i hate mary j blige, please no. She's too one way,she doesn't have much style and she basically pushed Faith evans out of the way and stole her spotlight in the early years!

To Harlepolis or whatever your name is: Look at the tread.

I thought I'd add. I like Mary and I think she is a talent in her own right. I said don't want to see Mary and Prince collaborate, but as you can see you are the only one that's talkin', ain't hardly nobody else agreeing.

I don't look 4 acceptence or agreement, I could give a frog's fat ass about whether you feel me or not.

I made my point already and I hold my ground, Billie Holiday was considered to be one of the WORST vocalists that eva witnessed the face of the earth by alot of people who REUSED to listen, she sang off-key many times(Check what Ray Ellis said about his arranged album with her Lady In Satin) she didn't have a magnificent instruement nor a wild range but guess what? She's considered to be the MOST IMPORTANT jazz vocalist in music, even tho she couldn't be like Sarah Vaughan nor Ella range-wise. This applys 2 Mary.

You can bend and hit as many notes as you please but if there's no depth to back it up then it doesn't matter if you sing or shat yo mouth.

Hell, she's been here for 14 years and still going. You can't have that much longivity without any substance to be yo common ground,,,look at Madonna, the woman can't sing a lick but she's still here, that should tell you something.

Far as Prince not liking Mary, so what? The respect is more than enough, you don't have to LOVE an individual in order to work with them, if you respect 'em and their craft then,,,viola!

"If Mary was so great how come he didn't choose her to induct him into the RRHOF"

Its not up to Prince or anybody else to value someone's talent, if you got it you got it,,,whether you induct somebody in some award ceremony or you made a tribute to the garbage man.

Dig Alicia as much as you want to but in the long run you'll come to yo senses and realize where did she get her shit from.

Maddona still being out there tells me that a lot of people still fall for the gimmicks and self created controversy she makes... and are willing to blow $300 to do it. But if you look at whenever they report on Madonna, All they talk about is "ooh she kissed britney"... "Ohhh she Jewish now" "Look at the shocking thing she did in this or that video...Never about her so-called music. She slipped thru the cracks on endless self promotion.Mary at least seems to come from a soulful pklace in her heart, but I don't think she has enough talent to bring to the table.

Mary's gonna be remembered in her own right...maybe not on the level of P, but she's definitely made her mark. Her pitch may not be perfect and her songs aren't always top-notch (the last P.Diddy collab album sucked), but she's one of the few current stars that remembers the "blues" in R&B.

That said, it's hard to imagine P&M meshing very well. One's a perfectionist, the other gets by on her gut.

mary j. needs to take some serious "live" singing lessons first and stop straining her voice on stage. Her and P on one stage is a disaster, he'd blow her off the stage...
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Ellis and Alisa whistling do you want me go on on HOW great at picking talent he was? lol

You right. I ain't debating on that. Only thing I said was I just don't see him and Mary duetting or nothin'. Mary is cool and a talent in her own right. Remember he might have picked this no talent women over real talent, but look what he ended up doing in the long run. He f**d them and then cut em loose afterwards, didn't want to be bothered afterwards. So much for Vanity, Appolonia, etc. so much for no talent.

I really like Mary, but I don't care if they did a duet or not. It's not important to me, nor is it on my top 10 list.

Now That is a GOOD no Great COUPLING!

I remember Mary doing some hot duets (wt. Whitney, Aretha, Lauryn...) A collaboration with Prince would be interesting. Would Mary bend to Prince's style or vice-versa? Mary's vocal range isn't as diverse as his, but I'm always moved by her live performances; she seems to put her "Self" into a song like Prince does
