BILLBOARD BLURB ABOUT CALL MY NAME

http://www.billboard.com/.../bonus.jsp

TWO PRINCES:

Prince has two titles charting on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks, and not for the first time in his career.

"Call My Name" (NPG/Columbia) is up 57-49 in its third chart week, while "Musicology" dips 54-61 in its 10th week. It's the first time Prince has charted with two hits at the same time since the week of Feb. 3, 1996, when "I Hate U" was down to No. 75 and "Gold" was at its peak position of No. 92.

Coincidentally, a song titled "I Hate U" debuts on this week's R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Z-Ro's track is new at No. 75.

I think it has much more potential than the ´Musicology´song.
I cant see teens dancing to a James Brownish song. They want heavy remixes. Maybe with a good ballad, or a very good remix of ´Pimp´...

I've thought from the start that Pimp was the choice single. Very good remix would be easy with that song. I'd much rather see him with that on the playlist than another ballad.

Who knows, maybe Call will maintain the momentum and he'll release Pimp as a thrid single. Like it's been discussed before...ICP&C, will make a helluva single and video!

Being a teen myself, I think the best song that in particular the younger generation would like is, "A Million Days". It's a great song, with a good beat and a good video for it would make it even better. Plus, the song has potential for a great remix as well. The "Pimp..." one is okay, but seeing Prince do a video for that would be weird because he's not 20something anymore. In addition, he won't be able to hold it up on the video either, without making himself look out of place.

Bottom line: I think "A Million Days" would make a great 3rd single as a follow up to "Call My Name".

Good take! (especially for a teen)
I agree! Being a black man, I can tell you that black folks will look at
ICPC as a bubble gum track. It's ok, but not for radio play!
For all of the non Prince fans I went to the concert with, they all seemed
to like "call my name" far more than anything else.

Opinions are like ass holes, every body's got at least one. Some people ha....nevermind. Anyhow, I happen to be one who likes most of the joints on Musicology. As a musician myself, I have nothing but love for a cat like P who jumps on the road of musical creativity and just goes wherever the wind blows him.

This is most definitely to say that I like dig every joint on the whole CD. I say he should release WTF ever joint he feels like releasing. No disrespect, but f*#k the "teens," f*@k, the media, and f#@k everybody's opinion. When you reach this level, it's all about doing whatever blows your f#@king hair back.

yes
To continue the thread of choice singles to follow-up Call My Name, I'd like to see something along the lines of Reflection or On the Couch. It wasn't long ago when Prince would put out a couple of slammin' tracks and then follow up with something more introspective (Reflection, in this case) or showcasing his musical versatility (i.e.,On the Couch). Part of his appeal was, and is, the extent to which Prince can take his fan-base to several different places with one album and thus produce a string of hits.
Whatever he releases, I hope it does well.

That seems more unlikely as kids still don't get Prince (for the most part).

- Sorry, but I dont think Prince agrees with it now. ´Musicology´ was planned to reach the market. It wasn´t like ´NEWS´ or ´TRC´ that Prince knew that wouldn´t sell millions.
The kind of production on ´Musicology´, the videos, etc show that Prince wants this album to be his ´come back´ and will do everything to reach this goal. So, he is probably worried about marketing strategies.

1st of all i don't think P worried about the single being successful as much as the cd doing well.P has never done a over the top video that costs and arm and a leg 2 help sell a single. P is about the album. P is not on a come back he's just getting more exposure. Go look at the concert reviews 4 "One Nite Alone" tour and they are just as glowing as the Musicology tour reviews. The media tried 2 ignore him but they can't know bcuz P is promoting the cd with interviews and live performances such as the Grammy's and RRHOF.
