Probably the easiest Prince song to decipher, if you even need to.
It's basically stating that God made everything, including elephants and flowers. At least that's what the chorus says. |

I thought the elephants were symbolic of the male sex organs and the flowers were sybolic of the female sex organs. Just my interpretation. | |

It's really like Prince's take on "All Things Bright And Beautiful".
Elephants & Flowers is simply a metaphor for the diversity of creation. With the Elephant representing the Big & strong, and the Flower illustrating the small & delicate. | |

Prince didn't do it acoustically, he did it on the heavy guitar night with Whole Lotta Love and All the Critics etc....but it DID sound amazing. | |

The thread title "elephants and flowers" got me interested to check it out because its 1 of my all time fav prince songs... Then i read what you wrote.... i find it very self explanitary.... and a very emotional, spiritual and uplifting song. I feel sorry for you that you dont get those wonderful feelings from it. Music is the power.
