Okay, you know the line where Prince says

"Still it's nice to know when I die and bodies wear out...
we can get another"

Does this mean Prince believes in heaven and hell? I thought that the Jehovah Witness faith believes that heaven is here on earth and there will only be 144 elders to enter. confuse Correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe this post should go in the religion thread, but I thought I'd try it out here first! lol

1. It's hands down the best song on this cd.
2. I agree with what someone posted here...in that the line has nothing to do with the rest of the song, except that it connects with the next line, , i.e., thinking about his mother, wishing/hoping that she could come back. As far as the JW stuff, just as with any religion, maybe there are parts that he doesn't agree with and holds to beliefs that he's had throughout his life.

My favorite song on the album!
I simply think he is just reminiscing.
Havn't you ever just started thinking about your past?
Your mind jumps from one thing to another with no rhyme or reason.
I think he realizes he is doing that.

I think the emotion that Prince put into his performance of the song with Wendy was classic. The way he looked at her after singing "it's about love", gets me everytime. His VOICE during that performance was breathtaking. Plus, seeing the two of them sitting side by side playing again has been the highlight of this Prince year for me so far.

Maybe he is talking about cloning. Every year that passes that lyric will become more relevant. Heck I saw an add the other day for a company that will clone your pet. Scary stuff.

At any rate, he could be speaking of cloning. That line could be fully intended to be nothing more than truthful sarcasm...perhaps.

peace

Love the song & the Tavis performance even more
How about another sarcastic reference to plastic surgery...Wouldn't fit the song though...

It's one of those songs that are so beautiful, and touching. It makes me think "wish I wrote that..." because heck who wouldn't think that!! I'm not entirely sure what I think about the lines in question.. all the things people have mentioned are plausable, but how can we really know, we'd have to ask him. I'll bet it has no connection at all, just to catch us out wink

How do people rate this song on the album?? As in where would you place it amoung your favourites?

I keep hearing that this song makes people cry -- so I'm not the only one.

There's something about this song. Very strong stream of consciousness lyrics that do make you you reflect. Lines like "Did we remember to water the plants today" "thinking about my mother" and especially "ain't nothing worse than an old love song".

It's just very emotional and low key at the same time. And it works.
