Well let's face it, this would be Prince's one and only chance to ever do an audio commentary....personally though, I think from an artist POV, there probably isn't enough he would want to talk about for the duration of the film...I think he would rather us listen to the music... We shall see...

The interviewing undertaken for the Purple Rain DVD extras is not known to involve Prince.

does everyone think they are 8 Full Music Videos OR just a section that jumps to the music portions of the movie?

Did he make 8 or 9 Music Videos for the Purple Rain Era???

These are the videos I have seen on various cable channels:

When Doves Cry
Let's Go Crazy (consists entirely of film footage)
I Would Die 4 U (live version from the Purple Rain Tour)
Take Me With U (live version from the Purple Rain Tour)
Jungle Love (consists entirely of film footage)
The Bird (consists entirely of film footage)
Sex Shooter

People have said there's a video for Purple Rain which I'm guessing is just taken from the movie, but I've never seen it (the video of course, not the movie).

I have seen a video for The Time's "Ice Cream Castles," but since that song wasn't included in the film, I would think that it wouldn't be included on the DVD either.

From DVDAnswers, this at least is for region 1 (US & Canada):

Warner has announced the twentieth-anniversary special edition release of Purple Rain. This two-disc release will be available to own from the 24th August this year, and should retail at around $26.99. As well as a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen presentation and English Dolby Digital 5.1 track, the disc will include a commentary with Director Albert Magnoli, Producer Robert Cavallo and the Cinematographer Donald E. Thorin, three new featurettes, an all-new documentary on the Minneapolis music scene, the importance of the First Avenue club and Prince's career prior to Purple Rain, another new documentary on the making of the movie and the Academy Award winning music and a third new documentary on the impact of the movie and music on Pop Culture, the response from Prince's fans and the enduring legacy of Purple Rain. Also included will be the following music videos: Let's go Crazy, Take me With U, When Doves Cry, I Would Die 4 U/Baby I'm a Star, Purple Rain, Jungle Love, The Bird and lastly Sex Shooter. Completing the package will be the 1984 MTV Premiere Party TV special and the theatrical trailers for Purple Rain, Graffiti Bridge and Under the Cherry Moon.

Warner has also announced Under The Cherry Moon and Graffiti Bridge, both of which star Prince. Each of the titles will be available to own from the 24th August for $19.97 a pop. AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

"Graffiti Bridge is the Director's Greatest Film to date!"

I'm REALLY REALLY HONESTLY looking forward to Under the Cherry Moon! I actually really like that movie, it's my favorite of the three, and I honestly laugh at the jokes and get involved in the story.

I know the acting is a little off here and there, but there are parts that I think have Prince acting very competently (as good as it gets with him). The black and white might just throw me off though.

I recall watching it with captions on, because I missed a few things they said the first time, and discovering about twice as many good lines as without.

Who am I kidding, I'm messed up in the head aren't I?

UTCM has no version that is in color. Hate to break it to you, but only part of it was shot in color and those scenes were lit so they'd look better in black and white. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but thems the facts.

Regarding the Question of U video. It is pretty strange. It involves a bunch of dancers dressed as notes (in skin tight leotards) dancing around and Prince controling them. Cool song and interesting video, but not one of his best.
The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

That is "Still would stand all time" not "Question of U"

Question of u video is a live performance from the Nude tour (Japan???) and features a kick arse guitar solo, no dancers dressed as notes

No it's not... The video for "The Question Of U" has Prince sitting behind the piano doing the song, with images of Aura and people dressed up as notes dancing around on the streets (F#M etc.)...
This is a nice release, too bad though for the people who were hording it wink
And it's a missed opportunity from WB to put "Can't Stop (This Feeling I Got)" on there too, if they're going to put an unreleased video on the DVD at least do it well then...

I agree. A color version of Under The Cherry Moon would take away the film's identity. The time frame for the movie was intended to be vague and timeless and the B&W film adds to that. Colorizing it would be so wrong.
