Should or Could Prince do a movie again?

With all the buzz around the DVD releases, it got me thinking that Prince is the only person (don't want to call him an 'actor) who, if I saw he was in a film, I'd see it. Hell, I even saw "Graffiti Bridge" in the theatre and thought it was terrible, but I'm still glad I witnessed it. So...what if Prince made another one of his "movies," would you go see it?

Oh no way. It's a miracle Purple Rain the movie ever became successful with how bad its acting was. But that was only cause the music in it was irresistably amazing and breathtaking. What are the odds he could ever defy the odds like that again?

No. But not because I don't want him to, but because, after the fiasco that was "Grafitti Bridge", I don't think any major movie studio (or indie studio for that matter) will want to fund or greelight whatever project he hands to them.

Stop joking. You know that if Prince put out a new movie you would go see it just to see what it was like. Hell, I bet even if you heard it was bad you'd go to see it out of curiosity.

I asked this question a long time ago... I said he should. I said he should play some Musician or I said Religious figure. I even said Jesus and people laughed on here. I think PRINCE should DEFINITELY do another Movie and ya Know SPIKE LEE was in Vegas and well maybe They could work on something. I think Prince could do a Good job if he does a SERIOUS Acting Piece and Allows OTHERS to DIRECT him and even wear Costumes or Makeup to become a Different Character.

I think he should as long as it's in the same vein as SOTT...
A concert movie would be cost efficient also...it's just
'lectricity. He would make a good amount of cash on a decent
concert movie. nod
He should call it "THE DAWN", and being that Prince has always
been a "VISUAL" artist also, change his outfits 7 times (U know
people love his "look").
Oh, and play a little guitar...

Something where he has to "act" is out of the question.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I think every popstar has one good movie in them, Eminem's was 8 Mile, Madonna's was Evita, Sting's was Quadrophenia, Bowie's was The Man Who Fell To Earth and for Prince it was Purple Rain! He's got the talent and charisma to do another movie, but you just know his vague ideas of religion and spirituality would get in the way of a decent logical script. Purple Rain was grounded in a gritty reality not unlike Saturday Night Fever above which his performances could soar, but he progressively moved towards cartoony visuals and storylines that don't mean much to anyone but himself.

no absolutely not
purple rain was good because it was somewhat autobiographical
he'll never do that again
apart from that, he's not a good actor. He just isn't.

He would still make a great subject for a documentary. I would definitely see that.

He should not direct any movie. But I would like to see him in a movie where he would just act without controlling the script or anything.
A documentary would also be cool.

I think Prince should do another movie..

The movie could resemble his career...

During Purple Rain, he was The Kid... in this new movie he'll play the same role except in this case, he'll play a yoda type figure... to all of the younger artists... I mean the truth is, there's a huuge crop of artists outthere who are clearly influenced by Prince's music (Andre3000, Big Boi, D'angelo, Alicia Keyes, No Doubt, Van Hunt, Bilal, Questlove, and the list goes on).

All of these people could play a role in the film... the Yoda could offer these new kids advice and pats on the back when they need it the most... teach them different scales, showmanship techniques, etc. Just really play a father figure to these up and comers.

The lesson to be learned in the film would be to never forget who you are, to always do what you want to do (artistically), and to really truly know what your own visions of being successful means: essentially, a story about honour, respect and personal dignity.

Take for instance, Prince's experiments with Jazz and recording records such as The Rainbow Children... widely hailed by the general public and critics as bombs, but in Prince's mind, the character, he believes in these projects as much as he did with Purple Rain. There's a huge lesson to be taught to the new breed of artists influenced by Prince: All That Glitter's Isn't Gold but being true to yourself and your craft is.

I think if the movie was done properly... it'd be sick!!!

Prince cracked me up in Under the Cherry Moon. I wouldn't mind seeing him in something funny, it would be a nice break from taking himself so seriously.

Well, Prince is almost tall enough to play Yoda.

Prince cracks young funk-Jedi Andre3000 across the head with his pimp-cane, "Fear is the path to the Black album. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to Bob George."

Prince isn't in the same framemind now.

If he did do another movie, it would probably be a documentary-type movie on like the history of music or something along those lines (educating the public).
