Showgirls/The Female Version of Purple Rain

I imagine a lot of u have seen the movie Showgirls. But have any of u noticed the strong Purple Rain vibe in the acting? The lead female character Nomi, played by Save By The Bell Elizabeth Berkley is basically a female version of P from Purple Rain. Her reactions, facial expressions, etc. is straight P playing The Kid. This is something that I noticed the first time I seen it in the theatres. And on repeated veiwing, I notice it even more. The movie has P on the soundtrack as well. I think the writer and director really dug Purple Rain and wanted that kind of energy and wanted Elizabeth to be patterned after Prince. Just something I noticed and was wondering if u all have ever noticed it? Maybe now that I have mentioned it, some night when you're at home, u can pop in this flick and check it out with new eyes. Maybe u will see what I mean.

Are you experienced? Well...I am.

Anxiety

319 and Rippuppagoddazippa (or however the hell it's spelled) are both in the movie.

Showgirls is one of my absolute favorite campy movies - way up there with Valley of the Dolls and Mommie Dearest. thumbs up!

yeah, I feel you. on a similar note, anyone ever see the Godfather. Michael Corleone is a blatant rip off of Prince doing the Kid. I mean, he's cool, he's arrogant, and he says the word "I" several times in the movie, just like Prince is constanty sing "I" never meant to cause you any problems... I think Mario Puzo meant the Godfather is an ode to the Kid.

seriously, if all you are thinking about is Prince when you watch a movie or here a song there is truly something wrong. you can find any similarity between anything if you are looking for it, but that doesn't mean it's actually there.
this message brought to you by logic.

That's the thing dumbass, I wasn't thinking about Prince at all when I was watching the movie. It's just things that I noticed from Showgirls that reminded me of his character playing The Kid. Period. U don't see it, fine. Right on 4 u, but trip because I did. And the sarcastic example u used from The Godfather ties in 2 this. The girl who Michael marries while he's in Italy, her name is what? Appolonia. Doesn't have anything 2 do with the thread.

I thought everyone was looking at just one thing on her body in that movie...and it wasn't her face.
