now the hype has died down i can safely say

that musicology is prince's best LP since lovesexy.

mind you!!!

this is more or less based on the ratio to songs i don't like to the songs i do.

there are 5 classics on the symbol joint. but "to the max" ugh!

and i can say there are some clunkers on emancipation, come, chaos, new power soul, rave----

i dont count "the truth" because it was a bonus disc (i put the truth as the last perfect prince record for it contained about 0 FF material to ME)

well the only song i FF here is (of course) "life of the party" (maybe "musicolgy" and "pimp and circumstance")

for that matter--i FF "ronnie talk to russia"---but pound from pound this is a great great offering. i pray he does a one two punch.

C'mon Questlove, what about Gold Experience? You didn't even mention that album, sucka...

Gold experience is better and maybe emancipation also.

I agree with him about The Truth Cd. That is the last pefect release from Prince, from beginning to the end.

if best can be constructed from re-working a bunch of old songs to be slightly better then he's getting close to having a fair point.

Princes current drummer is very good no question...probably the best hes had in years but
?uestlove would added nothing but funk and bottom to Pricne's sound

It's NOT a definitive statement. Just an opinion. I do agree that it's very solid from beginning to end (w/LOTP) being the worst...and even that's ok.

Still like Lovesexy much better. It's a prettier album...much more dense with meaning...and so very purple. Contains more GEMS than Musicology too.

Musicology is a good album with good songs...but nothing that stands out as being spectacular.
