Just saw it. WOW. Not sure if it was lip synched or not.

At first he like all shy...but at the age of 19..he is quite precotious. Shy turned to pomp and mystery in 4 seconds flat. I read somewhere that he did an interview with Dick CLark where he didn't answer questions or something like that...is this the same performance?

Anyway...a "normal" performance turned into a strange P moment...How the heck does he do that?

Loved the gold spandex outfit...and compared to Dick he looked tiny. I am guessing that he wasn't wearing the big heels yet...or Dick is really tall. "Mad Fink"...

The performance was lip synched and yes, this is the same interview you read about.

That interview endeared Prince to me when he held up his fingers to signify 4 years (in answer to a Dick Clark question) and his hand was shaking from being nervous. I have always felt protective of Prince - which I know sounds wierd.

The more I watched it the more weird it seemed to be. I gathered the shy thing right off…but I also sensed something else…like contempt or something. Like at first he seems really elated to be up there. But when the questions start…he changes…it’s like he’s a bit miffed that record execs would not let him play his own thing at 15…and he takes it out on Clark…especially when Dick sort of questions his ability to play music (you can almost see the eyes rolling in the back of his head). It’s almost at that moment we catch Prince at the start of the weirdness.

I am not sure if this was his first time on TV or not. I know that Dick Clark admires him - I have seen clips of Dick Clark saying nice things about him on some other shows where they had people talking about Prince in a tribute-like way. I also heard Dick Clark say it was the hardest interview he ever did. It sure was a one-sided interview!
