What 5 songs would you RETIRE from the current setlist? What 5 would you add?

.
Since he keeps threatening to retire songs, let's be courteous & do some for him biggrin Here's mine:

KISS - if I only hear that little guitar strum during When Doves Cry it's alright w/ me... "... of you & I engaged in a DUNA LUNA LUNA LUNA LU!" guitar woot!

CONTROVERSY - I like it but it doesn't kill me. I DO love the low lights on the people call me rude... part, thats cool...

RASPBERRY BERET - I loved the shit outta this one tonight... http://www.prince.org/msg/12/96748 ... but unless he's gonna keep it acoustic @ first then blow it up w/ the band it can go (I'm usually not impressed w/ this one, tonight was an exception & it kicked my ass!)

LET'S GO CRAZY - I know by now you're saying, "Why is that bitch taking away all his greatest hits??" Well damn, haven't we heard them enough? It's great when the confetti comes down & the solo kicks in but I'm really waiting for the next song w/ this one.

Since he's already retired 1999 I don't have to list that, otherwise it would be @ the top of the list! lol Sweet beat though smile

eek WAIT, DID HE RETIRE 1999? Aww shit...

1999 - b/c it's over already lol Use the beat & sing another song over it err

*****

Your turn - retire 5 from the current setlist...

Also, name 5 additions to the current setlist... GO!

Kendogg suggestion edit - thanks! biggrin

Life o' the Party - sorry folks.... just don't enjoy that one at all!
Let's Go Crazy - no real reason why....

man 3 more.... hmmmmm...

I'll have to back to you on the other 3.

Here's a better question.... what 5 would you replace them with?

I think it would be fun to see/hear Endorphinemachine or Peach or something with some REAL rock flow to it.

Maybe, The Most Beautiful Girl in the World, something from Come like Pheromone or Space, or how about Days O' Wild!

Sorry, didn't mean to jack your thread.....

No worries, great suggestion! smile

Here's my additions:

CALL MY NAME - I'd add it permanently, not here & there. Excellent song!!! mushy

17 DAYS - that would literally make my ass blow off!! omfg

AUTOMATIC - with the full band this could be AMAZING nod

FOREVER IN MY LIFE - no explanation needed wink

ANOTHERLOVERHOLEINYOHEAD - this has always been such a killer track, I'd DIE dead

horns

I dont know if he's doing it on the main tour, or even if he's done it lately on some of the small club gigs, but I could die a happy man without hearing 'The Ride' again.

It's not that I don't like it, it's just that he does it 2 death - and he has SO much more he could pull out of the bag. I think it would be quite interesting 2 hear (from those who would know such things) as 2 the songs he has NEVER performed live - in public at least.

You all have no vision--this is an easy list:

Let's Go Crazy has lost its power. Retire for about ten years.

Raspberry Beret just aint nearly as good as the album version. Just dump it.

Let's Work just isn't that good live.

When Doves Cry has to go forever! He just can't do this good live.

Kiss is a no brainer. Give it a rest for about ten years.

Songs I would add:

The Love We Make. This could be the new Purple Rain. Get America to fall in love, all over again.

Sex In The Summer. Perfect summer jam with a killer hook.

Party Up, good for the anti-war stuff, and just a killer party jam.

Ballad Of Dorothy Parker. this Song is so eclectic that you can do it many different ways. Should be a mainstay for tours to come.

Slow Love. He hasn't done this in years. Bring back the badass horns, my brother. dancing jig
All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

RETIRE
Kiss...yep just the riff is all I need.
Let's go crazy...He trncates it too much and the go go go ...go crazy audience sing along is kinda hokey.
Life of the Party...I don't like this song
I feel for you...Ditto...I like the intro
Take me with U/Raspberry Beret...Played way too much over the past years.

PUT IN
A million Days or ICP&C...better choice off of Musicology
Computer Blue...why is this NOT included is beyond me...everything else (except Nikki) is
Mountains...Live kicks Butt...and would go well with the Horns
Housequake...as a full on song
Anna Stasia...could equal ? of U with sheer power and energy

First of all - great idea for a post!
OK - I'll take a stab at it:

I think he can lose:

1999 (intor only)/Baby I'm a Star
You Got the Look
Life O' the Party (tho it's new... eh!)
Let's Work
On the Couch (replace permanently with Snows in April)

He could add:

Delirious (fun to see live)
Illusion Coma Pimp and Circumstance (my fav from Musicology)
When 2 are in Love
Starfish and Coffee
Forever in My Life

Fantasy adds:

Days of Wild
Darling Nicki (I know, I know...)
Alphabet Street
Erotic City
Joy in Repetition

Alphabet st...he's done this accoustically...I heard it last night.. It alright. I have heard better bluesy accoustic versions though.
