Basically it's all childish bullshit that people on Prince dedicated sites take sides over. Some like to act as if they're above it all, but they're the same ones who are on this site as much as the next 24/7/365er talking about everything Prince-related going on today. Fan comes from Fanatic - Prince several years ago said he did not like the sound of that and started to call his listeners Fams as in Family. Help me out here didn't he say that on the Oprah show? Maybe if you took off that chastity belt you could breath a little mo betta. | |

This whole "Fam" makes me sick. Prince all of a sudden decided
he didn't like the word fan anymore because it is short for fanatic. So he came up with the word "fam" instead which is short for family because his followers are like family to him. That's all fine and dandy but when was the last time Prince has done anything for one of his followers that would represent being a part of his family?(besides the great music) As a matter of fact he's treats his followers more like a red headed step child than a family member. I remember a bunch of different times when I attended those Paisley parties and stood out in the freezing cold for 2 friggin' hours before the so called family member let us in. He knew that hundreds of people were out there in -10 degree weather freezing to death begging to come in. All I'm saying is I'm not going to call somebody family unless I'm actually treated like family. Anybody who says they're a "fam" has lost touch of reality. | |
