Do you think Prince will ever retire and when??

And how come he's stopped developing other artists like he did in the '80s when he had a lot of protegees (sp)??

It happens to us all eventually, and Prince is no different. Could happen sooner rather than later. nod Maybe even when he's in his late 50s. U might kill him! lol

Check out this quote (copied from the Tavis Smiley Show online transcript):

Prince: Yeah. But there, again, it's a situation where, you know, people, if they want me to go back and do what I used to do, they have to understand that it's my body of work, and I'm trying to put in that body of work things that I haven't done, so that when I finish, I look at all of it, it represents, you know, the whole complete pie as opposed to the same thing over and over.

I'm probably reading into his words, but it sure sounds like he expects to reach some sort of stopping point in his work, though I hope not! eek

I saw that on Tavis and thought the same thing. But perhaps he was just being reflective on his career as a whole.

I would think that at the end of this tour when he has his $50,000,000 plus dollars in the bank from this year alone he may talk some very serious time off. He's been touring pretty steady for quite a while now so we might not seem him again for a while. But retire...no.

Prince is like Duke Ellington when it comes to his work, his DEATH is the thing that will settle his retirment.

Prince'll be making music up to his last breath, just like all the great composers.

Prince...retire? NEVER! He'll be like the Rolling Stones (and they don't look like they are retiring anytime soon either, bless their hearts). I say keep rocking for as long as you can and are able to do so. cool wink
"'Prince is crazy' -- I knew what people were saying," he says. "When I became a symbol, all the writers were cracking funnies, but I was the one laughing. I knew I'd be here today, feeling each new album is my first."
