That's telling that he's sold well at retail outlets. A lot of the press has focused on his concert sales. He's found a way to sustain his momentum. If he had thought of this in the 80's, both Parade, SOTT and Lovesexy would have sold a lot better!

By the way, I can't believe people are buying Avril's shit. I liked her last album but then when I heard about her wretched attitude and fake punker routine I found it hard to like her.

Plus, the warbling in her latest single imitates Alanis Morissette (one of my favorites!) way too much for my taste.

This is too cool. Not just the genius move of the concert sales, but who thought Prince would be filling arenas at this stage of his career. I can't help but laugh because Prince is beating the music industry, and especially the stranglehold of radio, at it's own game.

What I would like to know is how to get the link to the Neilsen SoundScan sales for myself, if that's an option even available to the general public. I would love to look at past Prince album sales and statistics. If anyone has any info on this, I would REALLY appreciate it!

Here's a week-by-week view of the sales of Musicology. Weeks Four and Five are subjective, as they are mathematical estimates. Please correct anywhere you see needs it. Overall, impressive, though. Especially since the fact that even without the concert scans, the album would still be over 500,000 copies.

Week One – 191,000
Week Two – 173,000
Week Three – 150,000
Week Four – 76,637
Week Five – 42,000
Week Six, 71,000

Total 703,637

You are right. But that's my point. Had he thought to bring the Parade and SOTT tours to the US (which he didn't) and bundled the albums with the tickets, he would have sold more copies of each album. Similarly, had he employed this strategy, I think Lovesexy would have sold much better.
