I just ordered this from Amazon... is it a good DVD? I figured with George Clinton et al, it had to be decent. I've heard very mixed things about the Live at the Aladin DVD and wondered what you thought of this one - let me know!

I'm sure you'll hear from all the nay-sayers, but I love this dvd. Lots of great songs and great performances.

I have the VHS of this concert, and I swear to god, I watched it everyday for a year. In my opinion, it kicks Live at the Aladdin]right in the ASS!

It's a good DVD, but it's no Sign O' the Times. I was never a fan of the medley format, reducing the length of individual songs, "Purple Rain" comes off as somewhat preachy in this verison, and I always skip Lenny Kravitz and The Time, but there are moments that are simply great ("Nothing Compares 2 U," "Take Me With You/Raspberry Beret," and of course, "She's Always in My Hair").

Sort of recommend it. The backings are too sequenced to feel completely live, (presumably due to his lack of faith in the band to be tight enough) and not the best solo-ing. But watchable and some nice moments.

Rave2000 sucks...no emotion there...

Better look for the Vegas DVD...NOW..thats a great performance..with the best band he probably ever had....

Its awesome, it was basically his part of the tour that he did with chaka and larry earlier the past 2 years. Its highly rehearsed, but great. Buy it.

yeah, if you want a really good shot of larry graham in slow motion during the ending credits -- arms raised, eyes closed, head bobbing...as if he's the star of the show...makes me livid every time i see it.....

Nothing special here really, good to see the whole lineup of The Time though! I think even Jesse is there!

He should perform different stuff, he knows he really only has diehard fans left (particually at the stage when concert was filmed) and yet he still plays the obvious stuff!


Maybe after the current tour eh, but really his hits r so easy 4 him to do, at least "The rainbow children" tour was different!

I remember how dissapointed i was with "Jam of the year" tour! Hardly any Emancipation songs were played!

This was a pay-per-view cncert celebration though, so I let p off 4 that reason!

i loved rave, the first time i saw it, i nearly passed out when he sung "nothing compares 2 u" on the piano...whew!!! he was sexy with his soft and wet lips smothering that gold microphone....

the only thing i didn't like was the outfits, kind of hard to not see mr. happy pop out a couple of times with those spandex space cadett suits on.

I love this dvd also! Better quality than the Aladdin dvd at least

George Clinton is in for about 5 seconds. He barks into the mic and that's it.

Also, for Thesexofit...that's not the orginal lineup of the time that's the current line-up without Jimmy or Terry.

If you like Prince because he's sex on a stick then this is for you

If you like Prince because of the music then ... I don't know

I recommend it... that you tie it to the Aladdin DVD and throw them both to the garbage can inmediately!

i watch this video all the time !!!!! i have had it for about 2 years now i think, and i have seen it about 2000 times i LOVE purple rain on this one !!!! it brings tears to my eyes everytime. for real, one of my most listened to/watched CD/DVD's of all time

GET IT - it's good Lots of great closeups of him, tight outfits... Oh, and the music is good too Particularly the Blues section (Purple House), Nothing Compares 2 U & I like seeing him show Lenny up on HIS (Lenny's) song

it's not the best of Prince but it's still Prince, if that helps any. That's why I got it.

The Rave DVD is a better quality picture than Aladdin, but the Aladdin DVD has better quality performances and no Larry Graham/Preaching.

So they're both good for different reasons.

I love the Rave DVD. The color and 5.1 sound are off the chain. She's Always In My Hair, Purple House and the Lenny stuff are fucking tight.

Watch it in 5.1 and Stereo. Two totally different feels, both equally sweet.

Don't waste your time on Aladdin, though unless you get it cheap, 'cause that's how it looks and sounds... cheap.
