awww, please don't say that...  But its a distinct possibility. There are a number of possible reasons why deleted scenes might not be included. Sometimes, at the director's request, deleted scenes are destroyed (and in this instance, it wasn't Prince). Other times, they are withheld at the director's request, or the producer's. There are even times when the deleted scenes wind up as the property of a third party (this most recently happened with the deleted scenes to David Lynch's Twin Peaks film, Fire Walk With Me). If they fall into the hands of someone outside the studio, then they effectively have to buy them back, or sign a licensing agreement. This can get quite costly, and it often isn't worth the expense to the studio. In the case of Purple Rain, there are a lot of hands in the pie. Its a twenty year old film, and many of the parties involved have since parted ways. The people who would have to sign off on permission for the deleted scenes may be numerous (Prince, members of the cast, the director, the producers, etc), and its possible that not all agreed to it. Likewise, it is also possible that the film stock they were on may not have been taken care of properly. The scenes may be lost, or deteriorated to the point of being unsalvageable. I too want the deleted scenes, but for whatever reason they aren't on here. It is possible that they are being held back for some 25th Anniversary Edition, but considering the wealth of material being included, I find that unlikely. The important thing about this release, more than anything, is the fact that the film itself will be presented in Widescreen, with a proper stereo mix. The videos being included leads me to believe that Prince has been more than cooperative with this release (they need his permission, since the videos are co-owned under contract by both WB and Prince). Personally, I'm thrilled about the videos, since these needed to be digitally archived. Anyway, I hope this helps everyone understand the legal red-tape BS that may be contributing to the whole fiasco.

Its nothing spectacular. I'd rather see a good, clean copy of the deleted scenes with "Can't Stop This Feelin' I Got" or "The Latest Fashion". The footage I've seen of these is almost unwatchable.
