If Prince was still "The Artist"... ...would the Musicology project (album and tour) be as successful? I mean would folks still be willing to endure that extra wierdness for the sake of this material? Or could it be that there's a renaissance due to the 20th anniversary of "Purple Rain"? While I think it's safe to say this is his strongest stuff in years, I'm just not sure the overall public would be as into it. What do ya'll think?

I think so because most people never stopped calling Prince anyway. SO WHAT IF WE'RE CONTROLLING ALL THE OIL, IS IT WORTH THE CHILD DYING 4?

I think his reversion to the name Prince has a lot to do with the general public's and critics' perception of him being not so weird anymore and therefore accessible.

Couldn't have said it better. I always believed that once he changed his name back to Prince, people would listen again and the music would get better. All of that has happened. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
