There was an article in one of the Uptown issues about Prince and Bowie. The writer wrote about how the Ziggy Stardust album and Purple Rain albums were erily similar. From the song titles to the subject matter of the songs to the album covers. Bowie is one of my all time fave artists and a huge influence on me as a musician/songwriter. This is someting I've always noticed: Listen to the intro to Diamond Dogs and listen to Scarlet Pussy. P's voice is exactly like Bowie's. No accident.

yeah, some hack wrote that story, i wouldn't believe a word he says. lol

Prince 1998:
"A lot has 2 do with just owning your master tapes. For example, David Bowie recently just signed away the rights 2 use his master tapes for $90 million. I don't own "Purple Rain" and I don't own "When Doves Cry" or "Little Red Corvette" and things like that and if I had the ownership rights 2 these particular masters, I can do the same."

May 1997:
Question: we have read that david bowie admires your work, have u or would u work with him?
TheArtst: i would love 2 work with almost anyone who is + and owns their masters

I went to an afterhours Prince 36th b-day concert in his old Glam Slam nightclub in South Beach back in June 7th 1994. Just before he came on stage, they were playing Bowie's "Let's Dance". This was part of the show as Prince had hired a group of transvestite dancers to do a little routine while the song played. Then the show started and Mayte spray-painted a "1" on Prince who came on wearing a white t-shirt. The one represented that O+-> was now one year old lol Don't remember much more about that night as I was pretty wasted, but I do remember that it was a great set. biggrin
Must I become naked? No image at all?

i admit, i'd fantisized that prince would invite him to the park for a jam afterwards and i'd actually get to see david bowie up close. didn't happen though.
. ..

This has already happened.

Bowie and Prince jammed onstage together at Paisley Park during the latter part of 1987.

.

sad guess i missed it then
