If Prince had released a very innovative album, would the general public have noticed or grasped its greatness? Would the critics have labeled it too inaccessible?

This is the case of the reviewer trying to convince us how hip and ultra cool he is by being able to snidely put down the artist's work. Its what I call review masturbation. Where the reviewer is more interested in his own wit than the product being reviewed. In some of these reviews (as well as some orgers critigues) it as if they expect Prince to re-create the concept of music with each CD release. He is only human. An exceptionally talented human. Some seem to miss what's there by being so intent on what's not.

Co-sign, co-sign and CO-SIGN.

Hey, I agree.. How can a critic, with no musicology in his collective soul try to criticize anyone's work or talent. Critics are like sportscasters who asked Michael Jordon or any superstar the same dumb questions like "How did you do that shot? or "Where did you learn to jump high?". If you have to ask you never will know. You never will know the feeling of hitting a high C on your guitar or soaring over another man as you dunk on him. All of us are born with certain gifts from GOD. We should never criticize another ones gift because we expect more. Just enjoy the gifts manifested through those people and stand in awe of the power of God working through these individuals. By him judging Prince, he inadvertently judges himself and shows just what he actually knows. 3 - 3 = Nothing!!
