Prince collection STOLEN!!!!!! :-(

Okay, this is totally crazy. I had a crate of Prince albums stolen out of my car. sad It was a big load of stuff from around 1987-1995 or so. It had gotten mixed up with some other boxes and ended up at my mother's house by mistake and I was finally bringing it home today. I stopped off at the grocery and while I was putting the bags in my trunk a friend waved me down... I stepped away a quick second to say hi and when I turned around the box was GONE!!!!! eek

mad mad mad mad mad mad mad

I am so mad I could spit. I live in a tiny town and I've never had anything stolen like this before. Still, I'm almost always careful and normally I would have shut my trunk but not today for some reason. My head is spinning about what might all have been in that box... I know both Madhouse cds, Sheila E's first two... both NPG cd's (including TWO of the 16 track version of Goldnigga) and a bunch of vinyl records, import crap and b**tlegs. neutral

I AM IN PAIN. lol gawd... I have a lot of this stuff in iTunes but a whole heck of a lot - I don't.

Can someone direct me to a good discography for associated artists so I can continue kicking myself for everything I am now missing. cry cry cry...

That really sucks. Call all the local used stores and pawn shops with a rundown of what you had. Some crack-head will probably turn them around fast. You may at least be able to buy them back.

Well, at this point I am... Madhouse cds gone but left with a TC Ellis disc. Life is cruel, cruel, cruel... eek

After doing a stock of my cds here it looks like I still have all my P albums on CD but lost most of my maxi-singles. Thankfully, my Jill Jones and Family CDs were safe in my closet along with a few others but around 75% of my associated artists are gone. mad

Guess I'll have to start over tracking these down. Thanks for the kind words everyone.

What a drag! That completely sucks!

That was good advice though to follow up at the used record/cd stores. You can also file a police report. The police will not "keep an eye out for them" but if you have it on record as having been stolen from you and follow up with the police, (ask if anything matching what you listed was recovered as "found" as well as recovered stolen property), it will be easier for you to get them back if they do end up at the police department.

Good luck! I know the chances are slim, but I hope you get them back. rose

Also, check with your Car Insurance company...depending on your coverage, they may provide you with the replacement value for the stolen goods...then you can buy all your stuff on e-bay smile

Good luck...and remember karma can be a bitch if you're on the wrong end of it (directed at the crackheads...Whitney, Bobby...give that dude back his stuff razz ).

That happened to me three months ago. My collection wasn't as large as yours, but I was still pissed as all hell. But, then I bought them all back off of ebay and other used CD sites like GEMM. At least whoever stole your Prince albums has good taste. wink

do you really think it was just someone who happened to be on the prowl for something to get quick cash, or could it have been a set up, how long were you and your friend talking? I'll bet some of yourstuff will wind on on ebay. Check all internet sites, I thing you make find a good portion of you stuff that was stolen. Prince is hot right now, I wouldnt trust anyone, especially your friends that dont really like Prince.

Dang, thats horrible Jt. sad Eye don't have a collection like yours but I would hate for

someone to take what I do have (especially while i'm still trying to build it).

It happened to my bro though so I know the flat out irritation and discomfort it causes.

He never got his stuff back and he had 12 inches and all that type of thing.

Here's hoping you have more luck than he did!!

Thats the best way to go!! Do it as soon as possible. This happened to my friend at my last job, left a stack of CDs and it was stolen. He contacted all of the used record stores in the area and told him EXACTLY which CDs he lost and when the guy tried to pawn them off, the guy at the store took them and told him THEY ARE STOLEN, I"M TAKING THESE. So do it, its your last chance to get them CDs back.

Naww, I don't think it was a setup. More than likely it just some kids/teenagers that saw an easy snatch. sad What kills me is that I wasn't even talking for more than 5 mins to my friend but it's a super busy grocery and near to several schools, so... confused Stupid kids, they'll probably toss all the vinyl records in the trash. eek I was browsing eBay and saw that a 16 track Gold Nigga went for almost $250 recently!!! I had TWO of those. If only I still had them, I could sell them and buy everything else over again. lol

Called the local used music store so they'll be on the look out.

I'm sorry for your stuff getting stolen. I've always said that I wouldn't care if anything of mine got stolen as long as it wasn't my Prince cds. But just remember this. They can steal the cds, but they can't steal Prince's songs from your heart. You are still a TRUE FUNK SOLDIER regardless!

Yeah, he's a jerk but, hey... I should report him to the police. you guys DID say it would turn up on the Internet real quick. LOL

Oh well.... In the end they're ONLY cds. In the grand scheme of things, one could loose a lot worse. It's just the sentimental attachment of it really. I had a lot of time invested in collecting all that stuff over the last 18 years. I guess I'll just have to start over, one CD at a time. confused
