A Million Days and Musicology

Anyone here think this song is closest Prince has gone back to his roots? The Album too. He even starts screaming again. Nice.

Only difference is he keeps singing in his low voice instead of the falsetto. The Falsetto added that funkiness to it, and Million Days would have been a nice retroish song for him. Is still a bit.

My next favorite of the album is the Illusion, Pimp..., although sounds a lot like Get Off.

3rd, would be Mr. Man. This one is a little too mellow. It starts off great, but doesn't change up.

4th. Musicology. Same problem, starts great, but doesn't change at all, except the percussion.

I think he's back to the roots w/ Call My Name, but I'm probably alone on that one...

Prince has a lot of ways to change this up, but lately when it comes to mainstream sounding tunes, he stays conservative. On the others, he gets more innovative.

For a great example of what I mean, listen to Kiss with that in mind. Its a nice little tune with a pop feel to it right? But it changes up quite a bit. And... the falsetto thing.

My favorite Prince move was when he would go from falsetto to his lower voice in one movement. Although, these were slow songs. Anyone remember where he did that. I think Beautiful Ones was one.

A Million Days, Illusion, Mr. Man, Call My Name, On the Couch and Musicology are a nice nostaligic trip back to his R&B roots. Too bad the rest of the tracks are a sack of stinky shorts.

Hmmmm, I think you got me there. Your right. No one should argue "Call my name."

That style goes back to Controversy. Correct me if its before.

I think A Million Days Sounds like the middle of his carreer. Call my name and reflection are definitely a return to "roots" which is r&b and acoustical in nature.

A Million Days is beautiful from him starting off with the guitar
the music tempo just get better when he talks he has away
making u think or feel what he is saying. But the guitar playing
is wonderful. His screaming is something else.

Call My Cinnamon Girl, What Do U Want Me 2 Do, The Marrying Kind,
If Eye Was The Man In UR Life Oh just throw in the whole CD
