Power of Soul Album

Hi All,
Has anyone heard the new Jimi Hendrix tribute CD called "Power Of Soul". It has Sting, Santana and Eric Clapton doing Hendrix covers aomng others. The best one though is Prince doing his version of "Red House" only he calls it "Purple House". It has some great guitar playing on that track from the great one. Check it out. Later.
Peace
Jimi

Yep, we've all heard about it.

A lot.

I haven't heard the actual track. I have yet to see it in any music stores around here. I've read the less-than-keen reviews, though.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Princes version isn't the best on the Power of Soul...

Robert Randolph and Santana's, who uses yet another
guest vocalist, are much better...

But, it's far from the worst...

I'm not a fan of Jimi's, just bought it 2 B a completist...

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I have the re-recording of "Purple House" from the compilation, but not the album, haven't even looked for the album yet. Although I have heard most of it. I remember being more impressed with the compilation "Looking For Jimi Hendrix" with Los Lobos, Chuck D., The 5 Bling Boys of Alabama, etc.

I dug Eric Clapton's version of "The Burning of the Midnight Lamp". Great guitar solo. "Little Wing" with Chaka Khan (guitar by Kid Rock's guitarist, Kenny Olsen) was cool, too.
