And like I said - and like Boris said - even the ones accredited to Prince & The Revolution (including 1999, dingbat) have a lot less input from Revolution members than some people think - much of them are still solo efforts.

because someone still believes the myth that certain albums were made without the Revolution. Let's (Rock) Work, Partyup, DoMeBaby, LittleRed Corvette, Jack U Off, Dirty Mind, Head were made by the Revolution with Prince. Truth be known.

Dirty Mind , Controversy & 1999 Good lord are people still in belief of this myth? Sorry to burst the bubble. I dont know if I would consider a few backing vocals from Lisa or Dez THAT integral to the making of those albums , but if that's the bubble YOU want to live in...have at it. Newbies. Who's talking about background vocals? I'm talking about multiple claim composition & song writing. When it comes to studio input its no big secret by now that Prince had no problem with not giving proper credit.

SO pointing that out, is silly. Nouveau and Boris are well read on this topic. I am a-waiting for that Vault book to shed some light on this. Credit/Non Credit...this will always be an issue. As I said before, I find it hard to believe that he did these completely solo with NO input. Did it go down something like this?... Unlike most bands that write music together, I am sure it was not the case as with Prince. Was it more like he wrote the music/lyrics. Layed down a sort of foundation for the song. Called up the band members..."Gotta do a recording...yes it's 3 am...get on over here" and recorded it? I would imagine that it was fleshed out already, then they simply recorded. If there were trouble spots they figured it out. I am sure there may have been suggestions in key changes/lyric changes or the occasional accident that sounded good. WHeather or not these suggestions or accidents ended up in the final mix is unknown. So the input would really be "minimal" but songs would not exactly sound as they do now because of this input. So instead of giving "credit" he put them next to his name on the album covers. Was it more like that or not even that much input? Christian Zombie Vampires

Prince reforming the Revolution would be like getting back together with an old girlfriend. People change and time moves on. As a result, we come to realise that things are just not the same as before. Its old, its recycled and you find yourself trying to compete with the past with an outdated perspective. In short, it's perhaps better to reflect on the past, learn, grow and move on. By all means, do say hello to each other as u pass in the street but appreciate that 'what once was' now lives in the past - And as a result, it can never be destroyed and it will always remain beautiful.
we can never return, only look back on from where we came. Raise your glass to the Past. You do as I say

Yeah... the revolution was a good band... for that time period... Dr. Fink was a kick ass keyboardist... Brown mark was good...they were all good...maybe sometime they will do one more release, that would be cool... they could redo all the warner bros songs that are prince songs..

Umm...you were talking about Dirty Mind,Controversy, and 1999.Nobody from the Revolution wrote or composed anything on those albums. As far as giving credit goes,...yes Lisa & Dez and a few others DO get credit for a few backing vocals. He also gave a few co-writes to them on the later "Revolution" albums, but you didnt mention those. Im no newbie , either. "...all you need ...is justa touch...of mojo hand....."

I guess one should bear in mind that the Revolution is behind Prince and the behind the Revs.. This is from the past and Prince's current band is terrific. All of the actors of this era are on a different boat now. "Goodness will guide us when love is inside of us... The Force will be with you, always"

Although this subject is by far a longshot...
It would generate great publicity of Prince did one reunion album with The Revolution and didn't tour for it but did spot appearances on award shows, SNL or The Tonight Show.

This group would make great music together again plain and simple. These are very good musicians except for Bobby Z. as a drummer but even still, I'd take Bobby over Kirk Johnson any day. (River Run Dry vs. name yo' nasty remix...please) I'd love to hear a new project by Prince and the Revolution....and so would Prince . (In this Bed I Scream, Splash). Who ever said Prince has lost it - has lost it. The Kid's still got game!
