Now that I've listened to the album everyday for the last month this is my new rankings of the songs.

Goodness, no. Not for me.
i've also listened to it an unhealthy amount. I'd be looking at On the Couch at no.1 for a start, with life o the party at the bottom. ICP&C, if eye was the man, musicology, what do you want me to do, marrying kind all up there near the top. Call my name would actually be pretty near the bottom for me, as would million days & (gasp) Dear Mr Man.

So basically, very different.

Everday for the last month and this is what I have at the moment:

1. Cinammon Girl (PLEEZE be the next single! W/ kick-ass video by a maverick Director!)

It gets harder from here...I like EVERY SONG alot and this is one of my all time favorite
Prince albums.

2. Musicology (Lead single for a reason, shoulda had another funky cut like it on the CD.)

3. A Million Days ( Sooo happy he's hitting the Pop-Rock again!! What he does best IMO)

4. Call My Name (Another classic Prince ballad...whew!)

5. The Marrying Kind/ IIWTMIUL (Amazingly strong climax of the album)

6. What Do U Want Me 2 Do? (Like Dorothy Parker...effortless and rhytmically clever)

7. ICPC (I personally have to be in the mood for it, I usually am..but sometimes it grates)

8. On the Couch ( A little slight, B-sidey, but I LOVE B-sides, don't you?!?)

9. Reflection (LOVE the acoustic version! Syncopated drum beat weakens it's impact.)

10.Life O the Party ( Dont dislike it, actually love the 2nd half, and live it kills!)

11.Dear Mr. Man (being there for the live version made me appreciate the grrove more, I like it but something has to be last.)

Like I said this is a very strong album. I like it all. Thats the order. Cinammon Girl is a clasic.

Illusion really struck me as being a classic funk number at first but now that I've heard it alot it's a little forced. However the last three tracks just sound better and better.

Anyway... I love this album much more than when I first ranked songs.

Here's the order of my OBSESSION:

1. If Eye Was the Man in Ur Life ( Man, Tommy really brought Mayte down. Good thing Prince wrote a song about that alcoholic 'barracuda' )

2. On the Couch (** magnificent!)

3. The Marrying Kind (if she runs to me I won't run away --- smooth ass line. This is the best "if you fuck up with your woman, I'm stealing her" song )

4. Call My Name (I love the line "if you belonged to another I'd have to steal ya .. I MIGHT BE TEMPTED TO BREAK THE LAW AROUND HERE! [after these two songs, is it safe to guess Prince stole Mani ] -- and of course the lyrics about the moon kick ass)

5. Reflection (unbelievable!!!! The performance on Tavis didn't do this song justice!)

6. Million Days (I can't believe this fell from #1 to #6 with me. It's still awesome)

7. What Do U Want Me to Do Girl

8. Musicology (don't touch, don't you EVAH touch!)

9. Cinnamon Girl (this fell. I don't like it as much as I used too. Still good though)

10. Life of the Party (this moved up from last place. Goody for you, Prince)

11. Illusion, coma, Pimp, and Circumstance (it's still next to last)

12. Dr. Mr. Man (Before, I fell for the GUISE of a social message in this song. But this song is so empty, bland, and cliche. It's hardly an important sociopolitical statment. Shame on him for this pretense and weak effort)


Ok, at first I did not recognize the majesty of this album. It's not up there with his best but it's for sure a good album ... I've been listening to it constantly.

These songs are mature and celebrate the love, security, temptations, and passion that comes with marriage and maturity. Go Prince!!!! The marrying kind, call my name, what do you want me to do, on the couch ... all explore different angles of commitment ... even the challenging moments. Truly a beautiful album.
