Forgive me, but I still can't get used to manly Morris Day uttering the words "My stick, my stick, I just want my stick..." lol

Yeah the song is where it's at. Prince most likely wrote it and played it too. "I've been drivin' since the age of 13...."
"New Power slide...."

i agree, the "stick" is one of the funkiest Prince tracks he's ever written. I am with you on this one. The rhythm guitar on this is killin'. Morris laid some cooldrum liX on this as well which compliments the bass. Awesome funk track in my opinion

Bran
Which came first , music or the ear for it?

Prince laid everythig except the Drums (Morris Day)

in fact, the entire 1st Time album was laid by Prince with the exception of Morris playing drums on most of the tracks.

go Prince

I think The Time's whole first album is some of P's best work. His playing is superb. That album really points towards the 1999 album. That also features his best playing. I became hip to the fact that Lisa was involved with The Stick when I heard Monte Moir say that Lisa wrote the music and P did the lryics. I can see why P cherished Lisa so. Lisa vocals are all over that track. Again, this pints to the 1999 album, Lisa's vocals are very prominent on that album.

The Stick is wicked. I really wish Prince would start to adopt some of these songs he gave away and put them into his live set. That song would be killing if the New Power Generation got their hands on it. John and Rhonda would tear it up.

"The Stick" is one of the most funky joints to penetrate these musical ears. Makes me grab my guitar or my bass every time I hear it. That joint is sick!
