Rockability

My older brother. He wouldn't turn it off, back in 1982. Course, didn't take long to appreciate it myself. Then, it was all about taking his records.

After I heard If I Was Your Girlfriend for the first time when I was really little I was in love!! Then The Beautiful Ones, hence the name, just really did someting to me and I was hooked. Little Red Corvet and Kiss are two of the first P vidoes I saw and he really blew me away. So Ive pretty much been a lifelong fan, and always will be.

I heard "Little Red Corvette" on the radio and was struck dumb it was so brilliant. I got the Rolling Stone magazine with Prince/Vanity on the cover, got the 1999 album and have been listening to him ever since. Besides the obvious things I liked about him - looks, charisma and songs - what I really love about Prince is that he plays or has played all different kinds of music. I don't like just one kind of music and on a Prince CD you can hear all different kinds so I love his versatility.

My older brother made me listen to the first albums in well I think '77/'78 we went from George Clinton to Earth Wind and Fire, Nona Hendriks and yes then there was that new little guy, didn't stop to listen to him ever since.
My brother did stop listening to Prince though, don't know whats wrong with him.

Marcel.

Several of Prince's early tracks caught myattention as a kid: Soft and Wet, Sexy Dancer, It's Gonna Be Lonely, Still Waiting and I Wanna Be Your Lover.

But the 1999 album is what had me hooked.

Rave un2 made me fall off of the bandwagon. But The Rainbow Children brought me back.

I would have to agree that 1999 was the beginning for me.
The song itself and Little Red Corvette were the beginning. (Not sure which I heard 1st.)
These were the introduction and when Purple Rain came out, I was assured to keep listening for a long time.

Parade, however took it to a new level. Absolutely brilliant that album. cool

Soft and Wet was my first Prince experience... Yep, a loooonnnngggg time ago! I was on a roll from there, then I fell off after the prince album. I think this was because I had broken up with the "love of my life" and we always listened to Prince toghether, it brouhgt back memories I wasn't ready for. But I'm BACCCCKKKKK!!!!! My Mom can rest assured that at least this time I won't plaster my room of him in his undies!!!!

Now I'll be brutely honset, I kept listening because he was fine as hell and my Mom hated him! But after a while he does something to you and makes you want to listen...

The I gotta tell the truth edit.

When I saw the video for "7". The beat was soo unique, and the video was interesting to me even though I was only 7 at the time. But from that video on I was into Prince AND the music completely. LoL imagine seeing a 7 yr. old totally going insane for a 30 something yr old!....yup that was me!! wink

I wanna be you lover is my earliest memory of P. But 1999 got me in. ATWIAD, Parade, SOTT, and Lovesexy kept me listening.

Emancipation got me off the wagon.

One Night Alone bought me back.

I discovered Prince through his early hits and as time went by he just kept on doing amazing work and that's what kept me listening.

It wasn't until the demise of a friendship with my very own most beautifull girl in the world that I begun trully appreciate his ballads; that was my fix that filled this void.

1999 and Purple Rain hooked me way back when... and though I always liked him I was never a real follower and never really kept up until recently... when a friend (who is a musical person in his own right and a real hardcore Prince fan) inspired me to start listening again and now I'm back in for the long haul! Thanks to my friend, I was lost but now am found!
