thanks. i was under the impression that he had been trying to get them to put him on the cover for years, and they always refused, since the '80s. when was the last time he was on the cover?

Yeah, sometime in the early eighties, Prince was on the cover of RS. As I recall, his pose had him grabbing his crotch and sticking his tongue out. A few issues later, Eddie Murphy was on the cover, dressed like prince, and striking a humorous version of the same pose.

Yep, I remember it. That was from his very first cover story on the mag during 1999's heyday. The picture you're talking about is inside, the cover has he and Vanity on it.
