Prince's best keyboard/synth solo or playing?

For me, it's the following:

When Doves Cry synth solo

Sexy Dancer piano solo

Anything off One Nite Alone.

Head - Fink's synth solo is still one of the best i've heard.

Pretty much everything on 1999 has got some nifty keyboard work too.

When Doves Cry, but from what I have heard- Stevie Nicks' Stand Back may be the best....

Prince playing Question of U at the piano (as an opening instrumental) on the Nude Tour was pretty special. nod As was the medley on the Lovesexy tour.

And i know it's not the question you're asking, but HEAD. smile It's phenomenal.

yep, those solo opening bars of the question of u on the piano made me cry the 1st timew i heard them. it made me think that real deep inside prince was hurting, the piano playing was just prince letting it show for a moment. beautiful
You do as I say

His work on the Time records really stands out, to me, more than on his own records. Maybe because he didn't feel like he had to prove as much, whatever, the keys are just blinding.

Get It Up, Cool, and on and on.

I agree player. Some of his best playing is on The Time's first album.

I agree...For You is criminally underrated. People often put "Prince" before "For You", but his debut is a much stronger album than his second. There's some great synths all over the record.

His Synth Sounds on For You are unlike anything he has done. The ARP makes it sound so 70's.
Still think "Prince" is better, but songs like "Just as Long as Were Together" show some exceptional keyboard skills in the man. smile

Don't know who all knows this, but Patrice Rushen played a lot of keys on that first album. P even wrote "I Wanna Be Your Lover" and "I Feel For You" for Patrice to record, but she turned them down. She also played a lot of instruments herself, taught P a lot about recording with keyboards and getting different sounds. Ya''ll are probably hip to that.
