Who knows... after the T-Wolves win the championship this year they could end up being the LA Timberwolves years from now. Okay, now u wanna talk about the Wolves winning the championship this year??? OK, so this year won't be the year we win the championship. I don't see them winning the next three games. Maybe one more. They definitely went further than anyone expected though. We have some young talent on the team and hopefully we will meet the Lakers in the finals again next year.... but with different results. I still will be cheering for the Wolves though! I am a dedicated fan. Win or lose. You have to be that way in Minnesota. Especially with the Vikings. Congrats to the Lakers and good luck in the finals!!! Ahhh.....what a class act u r Way2Funky As Magic and Charles B. said in the post game show, KG can't win it for the Wolves on his own - they just don't have enough talented players on their team to take the Lakers out of this series. If the Wolves have the same players next year (with no injuries) and maybe if they added 1 or 2 more really great players to their line-up, then I could definitely see them being a big contender for next year

Marv Albert sounded excited when he said Prince was there.
Probably was happy to have someone else at the game freaky as him. I used to love the Lakers, but now I hate them. It's like they're not really a team, but Jerry Buss hired a bunch of ringers. It's almost unfair how they bought the best players (& coach) in the league. I've never rooted for Garnet before. I always thought it was ridiculous that they would pay someone 100 million before he had accomplished anything. But I'm rooting for him now. Lakers sure are great, though. Check this song out at:

The team the lakers should be concerned with in the future will not be the Timberwolves....but the Memphis Grizzlies. The whole laker organization got so big and greedy that they lost the man who was most important to them....Jerry West. Well Memphis got him and in one year he took a team from a 23 win season to a 51 win season. I can't wait to kick the lakers asses next year....and the next...and the next. Also, one other thing.....Memphis will be opening the FED EX FORUM in the next few months....an arena that will make STAPLES look like the 2nd best arena in the NBA.....hehehe

[This message was edited Fri May 28 14:49:17 2004 by mchotsie] Actually, the Yankee analogy isn't really a good one, and to say they bought the best players is completely inaccurate. Shaq never had championship acumen till 4 years after becoming a Laker, and Kobe was a kid out of high school four years before they won their title in 2000. Both Karl Malone and Gary Payton took pay cuts to be on the team. There is a salary cap in the NBA and that's never been the case for major league baseball where you can pay ARod 250 million. Being in the biggest media market the Yankees have always done what they wanted under that context. So much for that. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Actually, I didn't compare them to the Yankees, but: Shaq was definitely seen as the dominant force in his position, despite not having won a championship. And just because Kobe was straight outta high school doesn't mean he was some unknown that they took a chance on. He was Lebron before Lebron. And just because there is a salary cap doesn't mean that the Lakers can't offer you more fame & fortune than other teams. They are the maybe most legendary team in the NBA, playing in the entertainment capitol of the world. I don't begrudge Malone & Payton for going to the Lakers. They wanted to win a championship, and the Lakers are great. I just think the lakers have done what a lot of teams have done lately, which is once they don't win a championship, they trade & trade, rather than let their players gel as a team. The point still stands: neither player proved ANYTHING with regard to winning titles prior to becoming a Laker. There have been dominant players who never won anything. Buying the best player(s) by definition doesn't equate to taking a chance on a kid out of high school, and a Center who was once perceived by many to probably never win a title because of his horrific free throws and the fact that he was often schooled pretty well by other players at his position (Hakeem, anyone?). NOBODY was LeBron James before LeBron; he's the most acclaimed high school player to ever come into the NBA by a Shawshank mile. And just because there is a salary cap doesn't mean that the Lakers can't offer you more fame & fortune than other teams.
Except for their top two established stars they can't, which is why Payton and Malone HAD to take pay cuts. The over the hill Rick Fox was making much more money as a Celtic before signing with LA. The salary cap doesn't make a difference? They are the maybe most legendary team in the NBA,
Celtics and their fans would argue that. Yes, I know you said maybe. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

way2funky said: THE LAKER'S SUCK. Without their giant Shaq they really have no talent. And IMO Shaq is NOT talented when it comes to b-ball. He just stands there and puts the ball in the net. Plus they have a possible rapist on their team!!!
And I do believe that the T-Wolves beat the Laker's 3 of the 4 games we played them in during the regular season! GO WOLVES!!! Lakers Suck! Wow, the best team in the regular season is getting man handled, I am not a Laker fan, but what I see, is a team of veterans exposing the lack of experience youth and giving them a lesson on Respecting your elders, Shaq is the best big man in the game, period, And what does Kobe's situation have to do with the lakers being a good team. another note, regular season only matters for home court advantage, and the timberwolves lost that the first game of the series. So the 3 out of 4 means nothing. The Lakers will win 4 our of 5 when it really counts. Go Wolves and learn the game. How you gonna get my back when you fronting.

At the Prince concert last night, Prince made mention of the Timberwolves.
He said, that's alright L.A, you may be spankin the Timberwolves butts in the playoffs, but I'm going to spank yours tonight. Later he said, "Go Timberwolves" and everybody boooed. Then he said "Go Lakers" and everybody cheered. Greeeeaaaattt concert! (better than Lovesexy), and that's saying alot!!! If we ever loose him, I'm going to give up on music altogether.
