Best Prince sound-a-like song?

Is it "Oh Sheila" by Ready For The World? "Untitled" by D'Angelo? Damn near anything from Maxwell? I would like to include "Hey Ya" but it doesn't really sound like P, although I wish P would have recorded it. The chorus anyway, during his "Dirty Mind/Controversy " period. Which songs u think?

I'm not sure about the title. It was one of TLC's first hits. I think it was called "Baby" or "Baby, Baby, Baby" or something. I always thought that song was kind of purple.

I concur. T-Boz from TLC tore up Baby, Baby, Baby. That really did sound like Prince. But then, T-Boz remade "If I was your girlfriend." I thought that was real cool.

yes it was.

Anyway, um...

"Do Anything" - Natural Selection and "Oh Sheila" really clocks in at some Prince mistakes by alot of people.

Funny - I heard "Oh Sheila" at TGI Fridays the other night - I would pick that one for sure.

There was some girl named, Laurenea, and she released some song that sounded so much like Prince. Can anyone help me with it? It was released in 1999-2000 era, I believe.

"Sugar Free" by Wa Wa Nee

"Back Back Back" by Ani Difranco (ok, I'm joking)

Much of Full Force/Lisa Lisa's production during the 1980s.

"Still a Thrill" by Jody Watley (Andre Cymone's production; that explains it all)

I got you all beat. Don't you guys remember "Toilet Tisha" from OutKast's other masterpiece, "Stankonia"? Prince would be flattered.

What about "Night" by this new cat named Harco Pront? See, I've been plugging this dude to you orgers for some time now. But he's just falling on deaf ears though. disbelief

How about Lover's Lane? I still jam to that track by Georgio. He also released a song in 1988 called "I Don't Want 2 Be Alone". It was kinda "Princey" also.

PS What ever happened to Georgio?

OK, now I think the unlikeliest Prince-sounding song would be this 80's New Wave track called "Doot Doot". It was by this band called Freur. Also, way before Prince even thought of changing his name to an unpronouncable symbol, this band beat him to it. Originally, they were only identified as some weird symbol, until their record company pressured then to change their name.

Juicy Fruit by MTUME

I always thought that Tom Tom Club's Genuis Of Love sounded very Princey, but they actually predate him in that heavy flanger kind of tone.

I hate to say this but on usher's new CD there is a song that called "Do It To Me" that sounds completely stolen from Prince. Sadly, I will admit to liking it. neutral
