Tossing the Bass? Hi guys,
Sorry if i'm not doing this right but, it looked like the right place to go. I just finished watching Rave un2 the yr 2000 on dvd. Overall, pretty darn good. I'm a bass player so Larry Graham was a treat. What I don't understand is why during the intro to one song where he jammed on the bass with Larry, and then when he finished he.... he.... threw... his bass.....on the floor....I....I....don't understand? I'm sorry again if this is the wrong place to put this. I just became a member 30 seconds ago so I could get this off my chest and maybe get a few helpful words to get me through this dark time. I totally dig Prince! Don't get me wrong!! He's got to be one of the most brilliant artists of my generation (props to Bobby McFerrin and W0-0-10), but he THREW his bass! With Larry #@$!*'n Graham standing right next to him! Didn't his momma teach him anything about respecting a bass guitar. After all, there would be no musicolgy if people just threw thier basses around. I'll shut up now. Thanks for reading. Down with Bush, up with Chomsky.

I almost crapped myself when at a Hit n Run show in 2000 in San Jose (immortalized on a NPGMC clip that I can't view anymore because of that damn proprietary player), he THREW his yellowish Strat (? I think ?), the one from the Purple Rain days, off the stage. A stage hand caught it, OK, nice trick, but...in Rave, does he throw his bass on the floor? Or just offscreen? Every now and then

i thought he threw it along the floor, not as bad on the neck. but the guitar throwing is part of the slick act, but its time to put it to rest. it can be repaired but why trash your gear? why doesnt he kick his keyboard over when he's played it?

Oops. I thought this was going to be a masturbation thread. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
