Hey locarts, is that a collectible or do you plan to sell? How did you like it anyway, I plan to read one over the summer...

Did you ever hear of turn it up 2.0 from uptown?

It's 160 pages that has 'unseen photographs' and other stuff about his music that's to sell only about 3000 copies...

NEFRETIRI

I have one called "the artist formerly known as Prince" by Duncan Clarke. I also have "Prince: the first illustrated biography" by John W.Duffy.

My favourite one is "Prince" A documentary by Per Nilsen, this one is packed with lots of great info that is listed by year, it's a must have.

Let's see...

I've got :

-Days of Wild, published by Uptown --> Great !
-The Artist formerly Known as Prince by Steven Rosen
(wouldn't recommend it though...for example there's a
picture of prince with mayte, the author commends : looks
like Lisa...)
-Prince , Rock Video Superstar, this is from 1984, it's
not really a book, more like a magazine.
-Popkroniek Prince by Per Nilsen (this is a dutch translation, I don't know the english title of the book).
-DanceMusicSexRomance by Per Nilsen, this is a great
book, U should have a copy, It's a pity it's only the
first decade that's described in the book.
-Prince by Steven Ivory, ok, but old stuff.
-Prince by Alfred Bos en Tom Engelshoven (it's ok, but in
dutch)
-Prince by John Ewing , a cd book, nice to have, nothing special
-Prince by Geoff Brown , same comment as the one above
-Slave to the Rhythm by Liz Jones, this book has also been published under a different name, it's ok.

If u wanna have more info, just contact me !

random - stick with the Liz Jones book, it does get better and is quite informative.

locoart, if you check out www.madhousemusic.co.uk, they have a list of all current stock items of which there are lots of books (including a fair bit of stuff by Per Nilsen). I think Per Nilsen wrote the Uptown:Turn It Up 2.0 actually.

Anyone else got any views on what's good - I'm looking for some reading on this very subject myself!

Another really good book is Prince: A Pop Life by Dave Hill.
It was published in 1988. It was the very first book on Prince I ever read. I dont think this book is in print anymore, so you may want to look on ebay or at the library.
