Song Deconstruction: Gonna Be A Beautiful Night

this was inspired by another post that talked to the rhyme that Sheila
does on this track but was wondering if you all could help me out on this:

1-where was the live version recorded and when?
2-what was the lineup for the live recording?
3-did Prince sing lead on the live version or did Wendy and Lisa?
4-I'm assuming Prince overdubbed his vocals later in the studio, were
any other elements overdubbed?
5-the wizard of oz chant--does anyone know the genesis of this? was Prince using
this in other songs performed live at the time?
6-any insight on how this song made it on Sign O Times? it seems interesting,
since Prince had just disbanded the Revolution to add a Live track with them on it...

any other tidbits you can add would be appreciated...i know you folks know more
than i'm even thinking about..

thanks alot!

1-where was the live version recorded and when? -Paris, I think
5-the wizard of oz chant--does anyone know the genesis of this? was Prince using
this in other songs performed live at the time?- He did it for the Parade tour...that's where it first showed up. It'd be placed Somewhere round Controversy and Mutiny.

U know, i was there in 86', in Paris Le Zenith, and the live version of that song was TOTALLY different than the one on SOTT. And it's obvious, he did later a lot of overdub...

It was recorded at Le Zenith in Paris, France on August 25th 1986...

2-what was the lineup for the live recording?

Prince
Bobby Z. - Drums
Brown Mark - Bass
Wendy - Guitar
Miko - Guitar
Lisa - Piano
Dr. Fink - Keyboards
Eric Leeds - Sax
Matt "Atlanta Bliss" Blistan - Trumpet
Greg Brooks & Wally Safford - "background Vox"

3-did Prince sing lead on the live version or did Wendy and Lisa?

Nobody sung anything Prince was just shouting out cue's and chants...

4-I'm assuming Prince overdubbed his vocals later in the studio, were
any other elements overdubbed?

Sheila E.'s rap, various instrumentation and alot was taken out...

5-the wizard of oz chant--does anyone know the genesis of this? was Prince using
this in other songs performed live at the time?

Not that I know of...

6-any insight on how this song made it on Sign O Times? it seems interesting,

No idea... Only thing I know of is that he planned to release the entire show after the tour...
