WTF? Are you DEAF? That is straight Marvin Gaye/Curtis Mayfield ripping at its finest! Name a Prince song that sounds like this?
...ugh! I can't believe I'm defending Lenny Krapitz, but truth is truth.
Some of the songs listed I can agree with, but some are a BIG stretch. I guess some of you listen to Prince so much that you relate damn near everything to Prince in some way.

Get over it, it is my opinion. You a #$#$ or what? lol
This thread is about songs that sounds like Prince, not about songs that sounds like Prince song´s. Some people here have serious problems in their brain. 3 chains o gold does not sound like a PRINCE song, and it is a Prince song, as there are tons of songs that Prince could have done that don´t have anything harmonic or melodic to do with Prince songs.

I wont even argue my opinios, that is just my opinion, when i heard the song it reminded of Prince. I got more than 4 thousand mp3z on my PC, from miles davis and santana to Pantera and dillinger scape plan. I don´t relate Prince to everything, just to lenny kravitz.

I discovered producer Joseph "Amp" Fiddler on "The Cinderella Theory" by George Clinton, which sounded very much like Prince and which was recorded at Paisley Park.

Meanwhile he appears to have worked with all the greatest, as you may find out on www.ampfiddler.com.

He's very funky.

Okay, this one is rare but it is the most Prince sounding song that is not Prince.
"With all I know" - Eddie Murphy.
Can someone who's heard this please testify?

Oooh! I had that album too (mind you, I was only about 12 when I bought it!)...! In fact, the whole thing was quite "Prince-y", but I can indeed testify that that track was very much so. The next track, "Pretty Please", was also an obvious rip-off, I thought.

(Methinks singing was not really Eddie's forte, though.....)

Is it "Oh Sheila" by Ready For The World? "Untitled" by D'Angelo? Damn near anything from Maxwell? I would like to include "Hey Ya" but it doesn't really sound like P, although I wish P would have recorded it. The chorus anyway, during his "Dirty Mind/Controversy " period. Which songs u think?

'this woman's work' by maxwell

oozes prince so much that i thought it

was prince the first time i heard it

also, 'spread' and 'she lives in my lap'

by andre 3000 has the royal one's

touch as well

"This Womans Work" is a Kate Bush cover....and Prince and her have been vibing off eachother since 83...and have recorded together (although in different studios) a couple times.

Actually, Robert Palmer covered "I Didn't Mean To Turn You Own." The original artist was Cherelle. She was first introduced by Alexander O'neal, who was the original lead singer of the Time, until Prince fired him. This might explain the Prince 'feel' to it..... wink

Hands Down! - Oh Shelia, runner up - Still a Thrill - Jody Watley

Others include: Maxwell - "Fortunate"
D'Angelo - "Untitiled"
Starpoint (U guys forgot about this song) - "What U been Missing" -

From their debut album featuring the hit Object of my Desire. What U been Missing was a duet and the male singer was trying very hard to imitate Prince..even down to his hollas, & screams.. The music mirrors When Doves Cry. I've been trying to find that damn record but no such luck. The chorous went - "forget about the past, U won't regret it, cause it's time 2 make it last, betta put your money on it, gonna move in with you, your body needs my kisses, cause it's hard for U 2 see - I know what you've been missing"

If anyone has it, please hit me up - nyckid2k@yahoo.com thanks.

"I Promise" by Dreamboy. Just the music though. The singing is corny.

I was driving around yesterday, and I heard a song by Musiq Soulchild that sounded dead on like a Prince cut. Screams and everything. I don't know the name of it, but the chorus had something about emotions in it. (I know that's kind of vague). Does anyone know the name of the song I am talking about?

Oh shelia- I was convince that was a prince song, but didn't know where the hell it came from I thought it made sense, cause prince some times references Sheila and the vocally it sounded like prince.
