So what's your opinion on Prince's debut album?

I've often overlooked this and started with 'Prince', but i've just listened to it right through for the first time in years and have to say i'm impressed. There's more good tracks on there than i'd first realised.

Soft and Wet, Just as Long As We're Together, Crazy you, For You and I'm Yours are my faves on this.

And no princebonics in sight! i'd forgotten abut that.

Sure it sounds pretty dated but that doesn't make it a bad record. It was still a good solid debut IMO.

but seriously, it's a really nice album..."my love is forever" is the cut. it's even better-rer on vinyl.

I really like this album... indeed, I like it much better than Prince.

My Love Is Forever is the cut!!

I LOVE "For You"....it's a much more cohesive album than "Prince" and gets slept on too often. I'd say it's his MOST slept on album, in fact.

The album is great. My only complaint is "I'm yours". Sure the guitar and bass riff is cool, but I can never understand what the hell he's saying, and it does get a little repetitive after a while

I listened to the first half of For You last night on vinyl. The thing that really impressed me this time around was Just As Long As Were Together. From the listeners perspective, you really feel as though you are hearing a full band at work. I wonder how long it took him to record this one?

I used to think it was a great first record, but was overshined by everything since.

Just As Long As..., Crazy You and My Love Is Forever were the standout tracks for me.

But there was a point, a few years ago, where I started to go crazy for it. I didn't see it as the poor relation to 'Prince' any more, it's one of my favourite Prince records. I'd say 'Baby' was my favourite track.



I know many fans don't think much of, there was a thread 'What albums is Musicology better than' and quite a few people put 'For You'

I just picked up an original Vinyl in mint cond. on the weekend... yay!

Crazy You is my fave here.

I like it alot,but of Course I like Prince's later pieces more . A few Really good tunes on it.
