I FINALLY seen UTCM...

YES! I FINALLY seen it. My friend let me borrow her copy of it(VHS). I just got finished watchin' it 4 the 3rd time. When I 1st played it it wuzn't rewinded all the way back(actually started @ the part when Chris & Mary are on that boat dancing). I decided 2 watch it from there. Omgz!! just from watchin' it from that part wuz all 2 good. I can't believe "Wrecka Stow" is well.."What it is!". Meanin' "Record Store" he just said it/written it slang-like.

The beginning the woman dressed in white wuzn't Mary it wuz Ms. Wellington who of course Mr. Sharon is sleepin' with behind Mrs. Sharon's back(typical). I liked how when I did rewinded it all da way back soon as it started it wuz NO previews & comin' attractions & etc. it begined automatically. Now, that's wussup! I h8 lookin' @ otha non-associations witta film & takin' 4eva 2 start. Neways, the start wuz excellent those alluring looks Chris & Ms.Wellington exchanged it wuz SO believeable. & Tricky kept repeateadly sendin' notes 2'im. & funny when he threw 1 of'em back lol

I like the part when they gettin' ready 2 go 2 party/restaurant that Mary DID say meet her @. Chris says "Mother, dear meet my new husband.."-"& as they take yo ass down 2 da joint this how I'll be-'He said that? MY BROTHER?-Oh no we defintely have different fathers...Butterscotch..Chocolate.."(that's what I remember so far but it's close 2 it) then Tricky says "Honey, don'tchu know I will slap the waves out'cho head!". I swear @ that part they both looked like they wanted 2 bust out laughin'..falloff

Also I notice many things that looked 2 modern 4 their time period. I mean that boombox they bought in wit'em @ the restaurant(cars, phones,& etc),giggle. & they made fun of how Mary couldn't say "Wrecka Stow"..lol But I liked when "Girls And Boys" started loved da part when he took his jacket off & did that dance(he turnt all around)-classic! Otha scences that I found hilarious were when he wuz in the mother's bedroom & when Tricky saw Mr. Sharon he looked right @ da screen/camera & said "SHIT!" & ran 2 get Chris, part when Chris & Mary are in his car "Then you get black! 'OH CHRISTOPHAH! OH SHIT! OH!'"-I wuz dyin' offa that, when he calls her daddy, fake punches Tricky did when the guys were chasin' him & Katy, the part when he got shot wuz a bit funny(wuzn't right- sad) he actually did do a type pose. & there's plenty more that wuz funny as hell.

The "Mountains" video wuza good ending 2 it,tho. All 'n all I REALLY enjoyed it now I wouldn't mind seeing it in color. Monday I haf2 return it back..sad but that's koo. I'm glad I got 2 see it & can't w8 2 get the DVD release..maybe more even added. She gots Purple Rain, also not Graffiti Bridge, tho.(she's neva heard of GB). In exchange I let her borrow my Musicology CD(not the CD itself I made a Blank CD copy of it w/o the video added). Well that's enuff,I just wanted 2 share my thoughts on seeing UTCM 4 the 1st time. Afta "Deliever Us Fron Eva" goes off I'm gonna watch it later on 2nite,again! biggrin

*Since afta this weekend it won't be awhile 'til I get 2 see it again I'm takin' FULL advantage now 2 see it...can't w8 4 August 2 get here!

Whoah, you havn't seen too many movies have you? wink Favorite of all time? Boy oh boy! lol Nah just kiddding. I think it's really underated. Like Prince said in an interview, he's not trying to be a genius director, he's just making comedies like the old 50s Rock N Roll movies. If you look at it that way, it's actually not too bad!

& I wish those "so-called" film critics back then woulda taken the time 2 view the movie A LOT betta than all so serious. It's very entertaining both 2 the die-fard fans & SOME of the general public.

Prince & Jerome together...too funny! & I love Mary Sharon's character, there's some classic moments on there...I can't wait for the DVD release either!!! Do you know by any chance if they will be any commentary on it, from Prince or any one of them??? Now with Prince coming all out, I hope there is!!!wink And yes...they should've let the fans write a review, it was more for US than them!!!!

I like little cool moments also, like after Prince snatches her away from leaving on the plane and drives her off, he goes to the backseat of the car & puts on his shades and says nothing staring out to space trying to get her attention & Mary Sharon gets super annoyed and yells 'What is the matter with you!!!'...something to that effect...I'm going to have to put my tape back on & watch this movie again, the little things in there are mad funny too!!! So glad Prince made this movie! smile

UTCM has it's funny moments, but it's not great, imo. I just think it really falls apart in it's second half.

UTCM is one of my favorite movies. It is so hysterically funny. It is totally campy. How can ya not love it. I think when people originally saw it, they expected "Purple Rain Pt II," and it was more like "National Lampoon's Pimps in Paris." My favorite parts.....when Chris throws the note back to Tricky ..... "Isaac in the mood fo drawes," .....& "maybe if you took off yo chastity belt, you could breathe a little mo betta." That is classic. I had a VHS of this movie when it first went to tape, and I played it so much I destroyed it.

Damn that was hard to read. Now I’m not trying to come at you like the grammar police. It’s just that I think you're doing yourself with your slang heavy writing. You obviously got lots to say but reading that post took serious effort and patience. What I would call a demanding writer because you demand a lot, too much, from your reader. Aight, let me jump back off the box and this post. Peace.

I think people assume that since the movie is in B&W that the time period is supposed to fit that era of B&W movies, as well.... however, this is not the case. It just has a 'classic' look to it, and the lack of color accentuates that. smile

Thats cool that U finally saw the movie, I love it and Ive been watching it alot lately LOL. My sister thinks Im crazy cause Ive been watching it so much. I have a cool sense of humor which is what you have to have to watch this movie. I dont care what the the critics say this movie is great, you just cant take it too seriously, I mean its its a comedy/drama ppl! Lighten up! My fave parts are after they have dinner with Mary and she calls him, that whole scene is hilarious! And the part where he climbs into her mothers window, hence my quote! Great flick I could watch that movie all day biggrin

Yes everybody that said sumthin' in dealing wit the topic I agree is good. & I notice that maybe it doesn't have a specific time era..surely modern-like but not so specific. Ya know the scene when Ms. Wellington gives Chris that check I looked close & the date on it said "9/27 1985" @least it's what I saw,did nebody else recognize that?

Maybe that's probably why there wuz so many modern things in it. Neways I had 2 give the tape a break..that's why I h8 VHS's ya can't play 'em so much. Soon as the DVD's out I'ma play it repeatedly..esp. wit the extra stuff added(if there is).

*Playin' the tape in background...it's almost @ the "butterscotch..chocolate.." part falloff When my friends gets her tape back the film gon' be burned out lol
