What if Adore was not on SOTT, but Crucial

Adore is a classic, reminds me of winter 1987-88.

This song was favorite of a girl I use to date, it was "our" song, but I know it replaced Crucial on the SOTT album. My question is would of Crucial been considered a classic like adore???

at that time probably. And then Adore would have been on Crystal Ball and probably would have been generally ignored except for the more avid fans.
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.

Yes, I think it would. Crucial is one of his greatest tracks and it's such a shame that it's relatively hidden away. But I couldn't let go of Adore - they should be both be on there. If I had to sacrifice a SOTT song for it, it would be The Cross.

I don't thinks so, but I agree with adoreable2 at that time maybe. But I think ADORE was a perfect fit. That jam is timeless!!!

"Crucial" is one of his all-time best ballads, but it can't quite stand the comparison to "Adore", which I think many here would agree is one of the musical masterpieces of all time. I'm pretty sure the decision to leave "Crucial" out was a hard one, but he probably felt there was place for only one song of that type of ecstatic love on the SOTT album.

And this my friends is the true reason why Prince is one of the great giants in the canon of modern music. His unbelievable artistic sacrifices. Think of "Parade" - he chose to follow his conceptual artistic vision instead of putting out more in-your-face compositions like "The Dance Electric" or "All Day, All Night". And with his recent output (i.e. "The Rainbow Children" and "Musicology") he is starting to once again follow his instincts more as opposed to the mixed bag albums of the late 90s.

I think both Crucial and Last Heart were destined for Sign 'O' The Times, would fit great in that album, instead of It and Forever In My Life. I'll kept Adore, anyways is a great song.

I'd much prefer Crucial as the album's closer than Adore.

To me, Adore is a schmaltzy, simpering luurve song, whereas Crucial seems to have a lot more soul and is sung with such passion. It's just a shame that the Crystal Ball version was cut short hrmph
