So Far So Pleased......a missed hit???

RAVE's "So Far, So Pleased" screams top 10 imo...do yall think that it coulda been a top 10 hit???

Personally, I think that "So Far So Pleased", "Manowar" and "I Love U But I Dont Trust U" shoulda been the singles from this CD instead of lame "The Greatest Romance."

Not for me. It sounds like an attempt at a commercial hit to me. I think Baby knows aims for the same thing, but does it better (and would also have done better as a single). smile

I agree, a couple of songs there could've gone very far, I really like this CD.

I disagree. It almost couldn't sound more contrived if he tried. The Greatest Romance is a better song, but more arrogant in character. I really think P's concerted effort at being more "friendly" (interviews, actually talking and making sense, disposing with the WB bitterness, etc.) have served him well lately. The reason for his decline in the 90's wasn't just the generally crappy and contrived fare he put out with shocking regularity, it was the "I'm the biggest little bitch on the planet who couldn't be a bigger prick if I tried" attitude. I'm glad he's apparently finally happy. You can hear it in his music. Although Musicology isn't the greatest Prince album of all time, it's actually solid in my honest opinion.

I have to disagree...I think that when it all boils down to it..if people like a song..they will purchase the CD..no matter what the situation or attitude of the artist..Look at the success of R. kelly and what he is facing. I think that Prince just cannot pick good singles and decides to move on to the next project before properly tying up the last project

IIRC, on the old NPGMC there used to be a Q&A section, and somebody asked why So far, so pleased wasn't released as a single. The answer was "ask Gwen".
