Honestly....how can anyone consider The One to be a good track.

nope nope nope nope nope.

i was trying to listen to The One again today an i just cant get into it.
Aside from Come On there isnt another stand out track on NPS
I'm sorry but for me it isnt even a good song.
usually if a song hasnt got me interested in the first minute i tend to get bored with it.
i tried but it failed.

peace.
imho wink

The track is okay. It's definitely the best on that album, and I'll say it's better than anything on TRC, and maybe even Musicology.

You don't like "Wasted Kisses"? I agree that New Power Soul is dreadful but I love "Wasted Kisses". "Come On" is also a good track. Have you heard the version of "Come On" Prince did on Jay Leno in the summer of '98. I think it was much better than the album version.

I always see a lot of Orgers beating their chests and saying NPS is a crock, but i've yet 2 see anyone post any decent reasons WHY.

By far a stronger album than Rave - even the production is better than Emancipation, so come on...spill.

I think The One is one of the worst tracks on the album actually. I've seen some posts where people adore the song, so sorry to disagree with so many, but I really don't like it. I've tried listening to it, too. It just doesn't do it for me. But the rest of the album is pretty good, I think. Maybe I'm just weird... shrug

I actually LOVE The One, it's one of my faves - easily. I, also, think NPS is a decent 'minor' Prince album... I'd sooner listen to it than TRC or Batman, etc...

Does anyone who dislikes the one actually listen to/like R&B or soul music????

Most people I know who loves those styles do love "The One". Bananacologne did raise a good question.....WHY exactly is it so bad?

i love The One...its the best damn song on NPS next to wasted kisses...wasted kisses could have made the best song on the album title it wasn't for how short it is.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Yeah, I love soul music and have never felt The One. Love the bassline, but the rest just leaves me scratchin' my head. Folks here are crazy about that tune. I'd rather listen to Mad Sex's rhythm/drum pattern or NPS' horn arrangement. The One is a zero to me.

Get it? The One is a Zero?

I like "The One" because he uses his normal voice and not that falsetto crap and it exhibits another side of Prince, not just the nasty "I will F*** til the cows come home" or any derivative of the same.

Sometimes I find it hard to believe people like you exist who think The One to be better than ANYTHING on either TRC or Musicology.

It's called having an opinion. Do some research on that and tell me what you discover on the subject.

You're right. The One isn't a good track. It's a great track! What kind of system you got? And Prince is singing the hell out of it.

I love that song! Its definately my fave on the album and I think its the best track on there, Wasted Kisses a second. I dont know why ppl hate this song, the music and the way he sings it is just dope! Especially the end. I play for song for my friends and they love it. They think its a great R&B song. Its pretty good live too.
