I HATE U has got to be one of Prince's most overlooked songs..the lyrics are so TIGHT!!! Does anyone remember the chart positions for this song?? It HAD to have done extremely well r&b because I remember them playing this song on the radio FOREVER and ALL THE TIME!!! I wonder why a video wasnt released for this song?

As far as I remember it charted to #11 on the pop chart. It didn´t go higher than that due to lack of promotion even though a video was shot. The video was never shown on tv , as far as I know.
The song was actually about Carmen Electra but Mayte was in the video.
I prefer the remix.

One of my all time favorite Prince tunes! The video has been circulating among collectors for awhile now...It's funny, because it has Mayte throughout the video, it makes the lyrics seem very interesting , though only in retrospect (I don't think they were even engaged at that point...)

Wow! It was number 6 on the pop charts. I never heard of the song until I came on the Org in March...

I love this song! Now that's out the way. I've noticed there's a couple of versions. There's one with "Your honor I'd like to call to the stand, my one and only witness...", then there's one that has the line "Girl why didn't you keep your panties on tight..."

On the radio it was played here in detroit zillions of times!
