That's the first thing that popped into my mind Mr.despues depending on what kind of

powerful they meant.

I don't enjoy Prince's religious lyrics, but the version of The Cross from the SOTT film just...kicks ass. Sorry, words are failing me here, I can't think of a better description than that. I think it's amazingly powerful - so much so that even someone like myself who doesn't appreciate the proselytizing can't help but get swept up in it.

It'd have to be between The Morning Papers, When Doves Cry and Purple Rain.

"International Lover". I LOVE that song. Maybe it don't fit the definition of powerful but that scream at the end gives me shivers every time.

gotta agree with Love2 -- powerful can mean so many things, and i ain't just trying to be annoying. some would consider JUGHEAD to be pretty freaking powerful, albeit, in a pretty nasty way. i would say that ARBORETUM is a pretty damn powerful song, but a 'power' that i wouldn't be able to articulate to another person. something visceral about that one. i think that BATMAN has got so much power to it that nobody can fathom how crazy it is. i think that some live versions of ANNA STESIA during the LoveSexy tour are so goddamned powerful that they aren't meant for this earth. PAPA is a damn powerful song, but damn, was The Kid really abused by his pops? GETT OFF (at least some of the remixes) is just so slamming that its got its own tractor beam and deflector shield. ain't nobody messing with that song. BAMBI from the Undertaker? forget about it. all powerful in all different ways...at least kinda, no? hmmm

Empty room

When he played it in Manchester a couple of years ago, I hadn't heard it before but the power of the song sent shivvers down my spine. It swept through me picking me up in the throws of pain within each beat. That is a powerful song!

Purple Rain, Purple Rain, Purple Rain, Purple Rain, Purple Rain, Purple Rain.

As many powerful songs as he has, no others come close to this one for me.

For me, its got to be "AMERICA" The beat was absolutely ferocious and the lyrics grab you by the throat. Short, Powerful, and Poignant. A great take on 80's America. I love playing it LOUD!!! headbang

"Electric Intercourse" has always done it for me. Maybe because it was all about "electric" and "intercourse" - you combine those two and something powerful is bound to come out of it.
