coolest album art?? inspired by the " worst video" topic, tell me, what's your favorite artwork from Prince's albums, stagedesign, whatever?
personally, i think the Lovesexy album, single and promo art is still part of his most inspired and original piece of work. Not to forget the 1995 Exodus/tora-tora era!! Great artwork too. Anyone goes for Emancipation??? | |

Emancipation has the be the WORST.
The Rainbow Children is definitely the best. SOTT and Parade are good, too. I think we all know Prince has a lot of shitty art design for album art, but those three are probably the best. Even though he has a lot of shitty covers, I probably wouldn't trade them....I've grown to love them all, even outdated CG art like Emancipation. I love the artwork from the ATWIAD era. I like how the singles all had blowups of parts of the cover relevent to each release and even the record labels had a theme (paisley one side, sky and clouds on the other) if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

I agree. I love Rainbow Children, but the Sign o the Times cover is a "sign" of the creative music inside. It looks like such a inspiring environment to create music in. The out of focus Prince on the cover confused me at first, but I love it now. It makes you look harder to see what he looks like. Graffiti Bridge tried to duplicate this effect, but fell short. I also love Lovesexy, but for more humorous reasons. Prince is just so passionate he doesn't care who laughs at him. Check this song out at:

me too, the best prince artworks are generally when there is not a photo of him on the cover. with the exception of sign of the times, which is one of the best but my favourite is rainbow children actually thinking about it, there is a photo of him on the spine erm... my argument falls apart | |

Sign of the times is a great cover with the drums, but 1999 to me is the best, with it's childlike drawing. It's so many different things and very specific meanings on that cover. Sometimes the most obvious things r what people miss. And P knows that.
