OK, I don't mean to be critical, BUT.....

What's up with the audience? That has got to be the most BORING audience ever. They all just kinda move around slightly. Prince keeps asking them to make some noise, and it's all so half-assed. ZZZZZzzzzz

I hope people who are going to San Jose are ready. I will be there to have some fun. And I won't be sitting around "sort of" enjoying myself. No restraint, no inhibition. The wild girl will be out of her cage.

Anybody from here at that DVD concert?

Live recordings usually goes in line, so the only way to catch the audience is through the mics, but the mics are blasted with sounds near them, so when they do the mix you barely hear anything but the instruments.

yeah this was covered a long time ago & yes i was at that show & in the 4th row & the crowd was all over it. The sound was taken from the soundboard I believe & whoever mixed it (prolly not P) did a horrible job. That & the fact the show was cut to 86 minutes down from a 3 & a half hour amazing show sealed the fact that DVD didn't do the concert justice. The best & I mean it when i say this the best version of Power Fantastic ever done & the funky, funky bass session ala Days Of Wild make this representation a travesty. What a waste of an opportunity but it seems P is making up for it this time around.

The audience is low in the mix, just like the ONA box set. It's all a matter of preference. Some like the audience loud to give it more an authentic live experience, others (like myself) prefer the audience low so you can concentrate on the music alone. I ripped the audio from the DVD onto an audio CD and I must admit, I enjoy it more than the box set.

i don't really give a crap about what the audience is doing, to be quite honest. i never noticed if they were a good crowd or not on that DVD. i didn't buy it to look at them, and quite frankly, if crowd noise can be edited out successfully, then more power to 'em. my favorite live albums are the ones with a minimum of whooping and audience interruptions. is what an audience does important to some people in terms of whether it's a good show or not? hell, even when i go to a concert, i phase everyone else out when the music starts. am i missing out on something? am i selling myself short by paying 100% attention to what's on stage? i'm not trying to be a smart-ass here, i'm honestly curious about what some people get out of paying attention to the audience at concerts (unless, of course, you happen to be the ones on stage, in which case it's kind of obvious).
