I was wondering if any1 has ever heard this song by Prince and what they think of it has this song been on ny albumn at all?

It's on The Chocolate Invasion which is available to download at npgmusicclub. I've not heard it though

Yeah! The song is great IMO. Remember when NPGMC was promoting The Chocolate Invasion? You logged on and the music started playing..."THe Chocolate Invasion starts here..." well that's the second part of Judas Smile. The first half of the song has a similar groove. The song sounds like Prince havin' fun sayin' what he wants to say.

What xactley is The Chocolate Invasion I've never heard it b4 is it an albumn or something?

This song was available for NPG music club members to download a couple of years back. It has now been compiled with other downloads available at the time (2001), and is downloadable with the NPGMC album, Chocolate Invasion.

The track is SLAMMING, probably one of the best from that year.

Kind of interesting that he originally named it JUDAS KISS but about a month or two (in September/October 2001) the title changed to JUDAS SMILE.

Regardless, a pretty slamming track. The Chocolate Invasion vibe has been kicking since late summer 2001 in the states, right before the release of The Rainbow Children.

Like many announcements/ideas P has had, this one also went by the way-side. Instead he opened up the NPGMC Store and there you can find downloadable versions of most of this stuff. IMO, it probably cost too much and it would have been for the hard core only, who’d shell out the $$$ to have this stuff on CD.

What it is now: The Chocolate Invasion is one of 2 “albums” you can download off of his site…it contains some of the NPGMC trax plus a new song “the dance”. It was released at the same time as Musicology along with the other internet “album” the Slaughterhouse…which also consists of NPGMC trax.

You will find round here on the org…that for some of us, who hadn’t heard this music praise the hell out of it. I happen to think that both of these blow Musicology away. IMO these are for the following fans and Musicology is for the casual fans. Others, who have been members already had this music a while ago and consider TCI and Slaughterhouse to be just hodge-podge comps of previous releases form the club and though the music is good, don’t really consider it to be anything special. I am surprised that given all of the publicity, there has been no mention of these 2 in the press…but I doubt anyone in the press went to the site and checked it out.

Personally, I think Judas Smile is one of his best in a long time. Then again I like the denser stuff…songs that have are complicated in structure and that even change completely in the middle. All of the imagery, special effects, background vocals etc. And that he changes key when singing throughout. It’s great.

If you consider yourself a fan, I HIGHLY recommend purchasing The Chocolate Invasion & Slaughterhouse. Very Much worth the price.

I agree with superspaceboy...I think "Judas..." is one of his better songs from recent years, and it's definitely my favorite track on THE CHOCOLATE INVASION.

Don't mistake these online albums for bootlegs...GET THEM!!! Ha ha ha!

Leanne, are you sure you are a fan?..lol

This song is proof that Prince has been influenced by Michael Jackson. This track sounds a helluva lot like MJ's "Too Bad", which preceeded Prince's interplotation. Its like Prince listened to "Too Bad" and princified it. Just an observation.

I know how much some of you hate poor Alex Hahn, but I think he's on to something when he writes about the period of time in which Prince was willing to be influenced by other artists. Me doubts he was checking out the more recent MJ albums for inspiration for his latest disc.
