What will happen 2 Princes music when he dies?

Do you think he has something in place for this eventuality?

I mean we know he's a control freak so I would think he has a

will sorted out? Will the much lauded 'vault' material only appear

after his death? Look at Miles Davis' legacy we've seen

the complete 'Bitches Brew', 'In A Silent Way' and 'Jack Johnson'

sessions all released posthumously.

Could we expect the 'Dream Factory' sessions in a similar way?

Or will family members be sueing each other up the arse (as

happened with Hendrix's material) for twenty years or so?
if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

THere was a thread a while about how he was going to die...I was sort of ok with that thought as someday it's gonna happen...

But this is a different matter. I kinda cringe when I think about this. I don't think he may have anything in place and even if he does I fear there will be MADDENING legal crap that will happen.

Then again the only way we may see some of these songs is over Princes dead cold body. Heck he may have all that is not released buried with him.

This question really won't matter if 20 years of analog tape are all gummed up down there in the vault because P is too uptight to have it salvaged and saved to digital. eek

True. Rumours abound that he may have a clause in his contract like Stevie Wonder that upon his death, any remaining unreleased material is destoyed.

Personally, I can't see that myself - considering how he often calls his musical creations his 'children'...

That's an idea I hadn't considered.... Hmmm, I could see him doing it, though, if he sees them as stillborn or defective children since they haven't been finished/released.

Like drowning kittens in the well. I hope not. But I can see it. Hmmm...I know what my Question is going to be if I ever get to ask one to him.

All profits from his lifetime catalogue will benefit to the JW's and the property of his masters will revert to them. Wait and see...

Given his legal team (it’s awesome), he will not die without a solid will, so the legal stuff should be relatively straight forward. What his will requires is a different story all together.

I suspect that he will direct the executor of his will to have his body stuffed, dressed in the cloud jumpsuit from the Raspberry Beret video, and placed on display in the center of the Mall of America, right across from Cinnabuns and Hot Topic (doing the splits, head back, and posed with the cloud guitar like he is ripping a solo). As for the songs, the tapes will be taken to the highest point in Minnesota and be ceremoniously burned, one at a time, annually on the anniversary of the release date of Controversy.

Hopefully, Mani will sort through everything (yeah, everything!) and continue to release an album a year or so for, like, 30 years.

Because I told someone that would happen, and I ended with "you'll see," and I want him to see!

I think that Mani would release his work periodically. Note to Mani--Get Pregnant!!! The world needs an heir to the throne. The man is gifted beyond belief and his DNA needs to be passed to offspring. Soft music and red wine usually works for me!!!!

The highest point in Minnesota is Eagle Mountain at 2,301 feet above sea level. It's up in the Boundry Waters Canoe Area...
