A few questions about the Parade album Does anyone know who is actually playing the drums on "New Position" and the beginning of "I Wonder U"? Is is Prince or Bobby Z.? Also what type of drums are those? It sounds like ordinary household buckets.
Is both Wendy and Lisa singing on "I Wonder U" or is it just Wendy? Is that song about someone in particular...perhaps Susannah...again?

I can't say for certain who's singing on 'I Wonder U', but it's either just Susannah, or possibly Susannah and Wendy together. [This message was edited Tue May 18 13:03:25 2004 by BorisFishpaw]

Didn't Prince lay down the drum track for the first four songs all in one take?

Yup Cool! So is he also playing what sounds like a steel drum and the bass on that track (NP) as well? Those drums are way too fonky!!!! So, that's Susannah on "I Wonder U"? Interesting.

man, absolutely nothing touches those first three songs on that album...not to say i don't like the rest of it, but the beginning half of side one takes me somewhere else completely.

For real. Just thinking about him laying down the drums, then the bass and so forth - it's mind blowing! Ever since I first read he did, I've used it as evidence in the "this is why Prince is fantastic" argument ever since.

I seem to remember reading in the biography "Possessed" that Wendy was the vocal for "I Wonder U."
The book also stated that Prince did the drumming on those tracks... Granted, this book is what it is, but I've been enjoying reading it! Keith/Kacey

This is exactly why I loved the segueing of Girl O'My Dreams/Can't Stop (This Feeling i Got)/We Can Funk for the Dream Factory.... Amazing

How you know is Prince who plays those drums? Is it Possessed book the only reference?

Apart from Clare Fischers orchestral parts if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

I always wondered who the drummer was on these tracks. The steel drums and bass on New Position are mindblowing and his drumming on I Wonder U is hypnotic, along with another killer bassline. I wish Prince would have detailed what everyone was playing on the albums with the Revolution. What seems like a band is actually him doing his multi-instrumentalist thing. Ha! I know. I think I've bored my partner with Prince trivia. After 5 years he knows almost as much about Prince's music as I do. The other day I had Jesse Johnson on "Who's this?" he says. "Jesse Johnson..." I say "and who was he?" I quiz him "he was in the Time" he replies. Trained well // [This message was edited Wed May 19 14:42:58 2004 by NouveauDance]

This cd is currently in constant rotation in my car.
I'll be driving down the road and feel my breath taken away by the wonderful assault of sound that is "Life Could Be So Nice" whether I've heard it once that day or 10 times. It's pretty much the same with all the songs on that cd though. I'm just trying to decide whether or not I feel bad for my children. I just got off an "Around the World In A Day" trip and now I'm on a "Parade" trip. At least I know they're hearing good music. I'm firmly planted in denial
